How’s that New World Fossil working?

Geez, it isn’t just that ‘sales are down’, this is a company that repeats the word “transformation” for years while transforming nothing about the way things are done. No accountability beyond your little team and doing things in old fashioned ways doesn’t seem to be driving any meaningful change, does it? Here is your evidence. Anyone really believe this “reorg” will actually change anything? On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with keeping the job you have, and staying to the end will not make you any less hirable elsewhere. There are plenty of reasons to stay, no matter how long it lasts and how many more reorgs and layoffs there may be.

These post are most definitely relevant and happened to me. Yesterday was the saddest site ever. half my department packing their desk and crying. Wish I could say there was a consistency in who was laid off but there wasn't. whether you were there 6 months ago or have been there for 25 years, they didn't care.

Yeah true. I’ve been working on my portfolio for a few weeks now. Posted it a few places. I want a job who doesn’t lay people off every year

Staying at a company that has had multiple lay-offs year after year smells of desperation. Do you really think that your resume/portfolio/etc is going to look good and stand out to other companies, especially after you didn’t see the trend (in a company that prides themselves heavily on trends) and leave? You are in an industry based on trends. Staying at a company that’s “trend” is laying people off year after year, just proves to onlookers that you don’t know trends or your industry. If you stay, you will become industry irrelevant

The company exists to make money from profitably selling goods. If sales are down, there is not a need for as many people working to sell less goods. It's unfortunate for those affected, but nothing groundbreaking here.

It’s not rumors when you are watching it unfold before your very eyes and hearing directly from people who have just been laid off. What is being reported here is accurate.

Who believes anything posted on this board? An anonymous rumor mill?? The person claiming to have been fired could be a bored teenager and no one would know.

Look back at this board. Nowhere close to accurate over time in my opinion.

I may still have a job with Fossil but I am working on my portfolio and will be actively looking. Because I am not convinced that Fossil can turn profitable. I hope they prove me wrong but I won't be a sitting duck waiting for the next potential layoff rounds.

These changes are difficult for everyone dumped and everyone left, maybe more so for those left. After playing violin on the deck of the sinking ship while the disconnected overpaids fruitlessly shuffle deck chairs, it is a relief to be thrown overboard because out here there be lifeboats and chances for swimmers.

Having seen the sheer panic and desperation of the 2017 layoffs for "new world fossil" I was not about to sit around and let it happen to me. I got out...thank god I did.

I believe every department got trimmed. There will be a restructuring meeting tomorrow for everyone to learn where and with whom they will be.

It seems teams are being called into rooms and being told to stay at their desk until they receive the HR call...
