Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Sales have never been worse

We have fewer people showing up at our store on a daily basis. Are others experiencing anything similar? I'm now convinced we'll be closed sooner rather than later if things don't improve.

Why should customers come to the store? They can use the beyond+ for purchases, no charge for shipping. Why waste gas or go out of the way. I said from the start that it was not such a great idea, unless it is used in store only. To include doing in store beyond orders. That would keep the customers coming back.

We are in between. We have good days and bad days. I talk to my friends in other corners of retail and they are seeing the same thing. I think that Walmart is capturing a lot of the tax refund season early, but maybe we will get it soon too? This time of year is always slow though, remember that.

It’s quiet at our store even on the weekends. The majority of customers that come in head straight for the clearance room, and straight back out again. The few that actually circle can be heard talking about how they’ll just wait for the store closing sale, since the local media did us dirty and reported that all stores in the state are on the chopping block. The response from corporate to that? Crickets. Everyone here is convinced that our store will be on the next list of store closings, and at this point we just want corporate to stop lying to us.
