Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

401k going down the drain and can't stop it.

It s—s that vested employee's are forced to watch their 401k go down the drain because they are only allowed to take out 50% or less ,than what they put in. If you have been vested for 10 years or longer you should be allowed especially during a time like this to cash out all of your 401k if you choose.

That’s not on VERIZON, you have laws that govern that, and as one poster mentioned, you also have options to move money into more stable accounts

Call Fidelity and ask to move your money to a money market account for the time being.

401k has tax laws implemented for a reason. One reason is that they're saving you from making a foolish mistake. The market will come back within the next year, and based on history will bring an even larger increase. Don't shoot yourself in the foot because your nervous.
