Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Today is Union Pacific’s least favorite day. March 19, 1917 US Supreme Court upholds constitutionality of the Adamson Act.

This federal law established an eight hour work day with overtime pay for railway workers. Congress had passed this law a year earlier to avoid a national strike.

And UP has been crying ever since.
