Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

No more safety equipment!

We were told at our shop today that there was no more money in the safety budget for safety glasses, gloves or anything of the like! They told us that we were responsible for our own safety and that it was a condition of employment and if we cannot work safely with what we already have the we would be shown the door! What has our company become???

Safety doesn’t apply anymore at NS. No stretching, no safety meeting. Just get you and your Rona to work

Bosses lives matter too. Can’t have one without the other. Think about it.. if you had to manage you X 20... everyday hour by hour and have the answer to all your problems day in day out hour by hour!! and then left wondering if everyone is safe and working day in day out hour by hour.

Unless you can give a name of who said this and a shop, I'm saying this is a lie. At my shop it's business as usual with regard to safety equipment.

If it's a "condition of employment" as you stated, then the company HAS to provide you with the PPE (unless you are an outside contractor, then the PPE is required for you to be on site). That's why they don't require us to have steel toe boots/metatarsals, they only "recommend it". Because if they required us to have the steel toes in the shop then they have to provide them or provide a boot allowance. At least that's how our shop is set up. But FNS anyhow. Two more months and I'll be 65 and time to say good bye.
