Thread regarding United States Postal Service (USPS) layoffs

Coronavirus

Was told by management I would be fired if I called in sick for Coronavirus. I resigned because I got very ill and tested positive. I am a disabled retired veteran. Do I have any recourse? Anyway, expect layoffs and hiring of more PSEs as this crisis is awfully convenient for them. USPS has just become a giant ball of sh!+ Believe it when they come for your job and the APWU doesn’t defend you!

If your story is factual which sounds unlikely, contact the merit system protection board that supercedes the post office on federal job actions involving military veterans. They will investigate your claims.

US Postal Circus is a corrupt semi-independent govt agency, over 100,000 so called managers (99% have no University education) 95,000 workers on lite/limited/IOD injury status,400,000 workers who touch the mail. (think about it, 1 po mismanager for every 4 workers-unheard of in private sector) even Obama in a 2009 Town Hall meeting in New Hampshire said "UPS & FDX make money, it the the Post Office that is always losing money". over 225 Billion loss since 2009, ( 9 Billion loss in 2019 alone)(PO Mismanagers give themselves a government "PFP" pay for preformancebonus each year sic) has NOT paid into health care prefunding since 2009 (defaulted on all payments last 11 years) Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, Obama ALL said the Post Office loses money. Trump has said the Post Office needs NEW Management-that is the problem. does not blame the worker as they do not set policy. PO Mismanagement is filled with nepotism, friends, family, cronies, boyfriend/girlfriend s—ing up the higher pay positons-75K and up.since 2009 they have cut the workers, by not replacing when they retire-no po mismanagers cut in relation to reduced head count, would you really give these criminals $89 Billion without any strings attached? PO needs a CEO from outside with MBA to clean it up. Postal Unions want status quo as Union heads make 275K and up. go put in for unemployment and tell them the PO Mismanagement harassed you into quitting (bring a Doctors note with you saying you were sick with COVID-19 Wuhan virus and did not want to infect your fellow workers) email your congressman(bring copy to unemployment) file complaint on line with OSHA & Postal OIG(bring copy of complaint to unemployment) and file a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) complaint against the union for "non-representation. (bring copy of that with you to unemployment)

So you resigned on your own and now wonder if you have any recourse? NO, you ceded that right when you did your voluntary resignation. A smart person would let them fire them. As it stands now you can't even file for unemployment since yours is a voluntary resignation.
