Managers got a call today or joined a call to communicate recent Changes that impact Solutions specialist to not show up to work until April 1st but managers will cover shifts in surrounding store to their home address. Is this fair? Was this the best way to handle the situation?
Managers also have families and we are scared of getting sick.

Verizon is the worst company you work for period !
Nobody, and I mean no other company, cares at all about experience as a Verizon store manager. I had those same thoughts and tried to use it a few times. You'll get thanked and ghosted once come in with your vz manager salary. I'm not advocating for the job, the job blows. But it's like your walk into an interview and impress anyone with Verizon gm.
All employees know what you are talking about with the brown nosing.
Food for thought.....The real reasoning behind the whole managers only working is because this company is so afraid of the union coming as a result of one of the reps getting peed off because they had to work during this epidemic. This is the real truth. Managers cant call in the union.
Self demote? After I put in my time as a manager so I can advance my career? Except apparently it requires more than being competent and skilled and being able to bring failing stores to success over and over again. It takes a lot of a– kissing and being DMs brown nose and yesman. I'm not gonna go into details on here, but my fellow managers know exactly what I'm talking about. So after years of working my a– off I'm supposed to demote myself?? Hell no. But I will be looking outside Verizon once this madness is over and being a manager gives me a much better chance.
As a former store manager, thems the breaks kid. Store manager is the worst job in the company and gets dumped on the most. That's a time in title and get out job.
You can always self demote smh
@Please go
I don't remember signing a clause agreeing to expose myself to a deadly virus on a daily basis and risk the lives of my family by doing so during a worldwide pandemic?! This is the lowest level management job, not Navy Seal or FBI agent. You are a mo–n.
"easy sailing"?? Having to work 6 day weeks at least 2 times a month, bell to bells with no lunch break, where I don't see my kids for days, doing the job of 2-3 people that were let go over the years, being the first to come in and last to go home, having to deal with public outrage face to face because they don't like the changes Verizon is making, and having to deal with people like you - that is NOT easy f—ing sailing. A–hole.
Yes you chose to be in leadership you lead. Not just when it's easy sailing. Whoever chooses to become a manager assumes the responsibility that comes with the title and salary. You can always quit, please do the rest of us a favor and go!
Managers obviously have superior immune systems. Nope just less likely to unionize. I don’t see any executive leadership out and about in stores posting their “do-good” pictures on Instagram. They are at home, protecting themselves and their loved ones from being exposed to the virus.
I'm sorry to say, but most SMs hang out for their 8 hour shift. They will still count the 100 dollar cash drawers in the morning then delegate inventory to one of the brown noses they delegate to.zthe monthly inventory count they do with one of the brown noses, that know when they become SMs they can do little as possible and not help as many customers. In Verizon I've heard that SMs are referred as the "Do nothing Club"
The perks of being a retail manager. Wait and see when things get back to normal, a bunch of SMs will be let go.
I agree. I see the typical know it all a– kissers posting on Instagram and comments on the lib
Be Twitter feed. You want to work, raise your hand. Verizon must drastically cuts stores and let people volunteer to work.
Whoever posted before this is spot on. Once this is all over they will close stores or divest them and lay off the SMs who are covering the stores. Do not forget that just 4 years ago they asked the RSS & SMs to assist the wireline when they were on strike and shortly thereafter who got laid off ??? Yup sounds familiar
Not fair VZW!!!
SMs are usually the first ones cut in retail now. I wouldn’t be surprised if after this pandemic is over they do another round of SM layoffs which is what there has been rumors of before this all happened. So Verizon will make someone put their health at risk fully aware they won’t have a job or health benefits in a couple of months... Shame on you Verizon.
Yup it all needs to be voluntary. If you are excited to run out there and expose yourself god bless you.
No it’s not fair at all, Verizon does nothing fairly, true colors are coming out and most managers that still loved the company are changing gears after being treated like this. Should all be volunteer based at a limited number of locations, emergency situations only. If they really cared they would have done this from the start instead of dragging feet and supporting customers first before employees - bad move Vzw. I know people in government and the worst hasn’t even happened yet and they think it’s ok to keep retail open we are not network we are sales everything can be done over the phone and online in a day tops if there were some emergency
