Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Is Xerox considered an "Essential Business"

I would think not. So shouldn't all/most of the employees be temporarily laid off ? Corning Glass just laid off ~400 because they did not meet the govt definition of essential business.

They should be... The last thing we need right now is hundreds of thousands of alcoholics overwhelming the hospitals right now because of withdrawal. Give them their drinks...

In New York state anyway, liquor stores are tagged as essential, go figure.

They dont practice what they preach. No way in hell they are essential. And management sends out threatening emails and there is no way to comply with the 6ft rule. I work in Texas and these people dont care if someone gets infected as long as they make money. They should be forced to close.

Essential? Yes, to managment. Frontline techs have always been the buffer between angry customers with c-appy equipment, and the overpaid "meeting attenders". Who bears the brunt of their anger, face to face? The techs do. High profile salesman's pet account got a problem? Who gets a breathless phone call from sales, besides the call from dispatch, to "hurry it up, my account is on the line"?
The tech. Who gets beaten over their head with their jobs, if they don't make their "gates" and their manager is going to "look bad". You guessed it!
Don't go in, stay safe.
Let the angry villagers with the torches, and the pitch forks, show up at managements door.
They'll get what they deserve, and see what you see every day,
and you'll stay healthy.
Stay safe, and God Bless you all.

Essential? You are either grossly misinformed or you drank the Xerox Kool-aid.
Let me touch on three
points.
1) 98 % of the Bay Area calls are from Mom and Pop copy shops all saying they are running pamphlets for schools or hospitals. A) schools are using online tools such as Voom, working from home and downloading their “pamphlets” B) do you seriously think hospitals are passing Xerox Paper back and forth during a pandemic?
2) You couldn’t give a Xerox technicians job away. Who ever threatened you with that post must be a manager working safely from the comforts of his own home.
3) You have been told by your Mayor, The Governor, The CDC and pleadings from The Healthcare Community and Medical Experts to PLEASE stay home for two weeks........or......you can listen to your Manager who is risking your life as well as the lives of others by spreading this Virus and lies by telling you how “essential” you are.
SINCE WHEN?

Yes many in Xerox are considered essential. We are supporting schools who are printing an unbelievable amount of student packets, we are supporting pharmaceutical, government, and health organizations across the globe.. who are all in desperate need of the “services” and “printing” support we provide. If you are a Xerox employee and not incredibly busy right now you should be asking your manager how you can support those of us who are supporting the front lines of this epidemic!

Funny how the most "essential" people in the building happen to be the lowest payed and least appreciated any other time. Easy to set home for the last three weeks and tell them to carry-on by video or a phone call from your well stocked million dollar homes.

So we should tell the medical centers as the government to go to hell? That’s c-ap. Medical centers have protocols and policies requiring print and some functions shut down if they cannot. Discharges can’t happen, orders for medicine get delayed.

We are essential. If you don’t want to work go ahead and quit. There are plenty of people right now who need a job.

Xerox needs you to go out there in the pandemic and expose yourself and bring it back to your families.
Xerox says you"re an essential worker, yet they provide no PPE on the front line of this crisis. NONE.

They expect you to service accounts that everyone knows are not essential services, and tow the line because they need the revenue.

GO XEROX!
