Work from home for rest of 2020

Here's an idea to boost employee morale, give everyone the option to work from home for rest of 2020 if your job can be done from home. Zero cost to HON (probably savings on office space), safety from Corona, available to meet at odd hours, employee can move to cheap neighborhood with the lower paycheck, family friendly etc so many benefits. Time to admit the obvious, beyond year 1 there isn't a great deal you can do at the office which can't be done from home

If you work from home the rest of us that actually go in do not want to hear all the whining about how difficult it is to be couped up. At least your safe! The sites have little to no sanitizer, no masks, no sanitizing, etc. I'm surprised someone hasn't pulled an Amazon yet and staged an employee walk out.

Boost morale? Why would HON do that and why do you think they even care about morale?

@2ihr. In case you didn’t know, JE left the company. Try to keep up.

Let's see - I am no longer on the road for 2+ hours a day. I have more time for family and more time for Honeywell - I am more productive on both accounts. If the average person saves 1 hour per day commuting and gives half that time to Honeywell then Honeywell gets an extra 2.5 hours per week per employee (JE should love that). Multiplied by 10,000 employees that comes to 25000 hours per week or 12.5 man years per week. Multiplied by 48 weeks (considering time off) that comes to 600 man years gained annually. Do you believe the imaginary collaboration benefits of being in the office out weigh 600 man years gained annually? if it is an hour per day that is 1200 man years!

As I always say "it's better to shag than to shake"!

You gotta wonder what "lye in bed shacking the mouse" is. Hopefully it's not shagging.

what I find interesting is that HON wants the world to believe it's a SOFTWARE company...Real software companies have very liberal policies re: work from anywhere as long as the work gets done. The idea, in today's "CONNECTED" world, that you have to be in the office to be productive, is so incredibly outdated that it's laughable.

I will be working from home the rest of the year, f*ck it. The ones trying to implement this wfh policy does not go into the site that often anyway. Collaboration, wtf do I have to collaborate about when I am not attached to a single team at my site. Collaboration is BS.

Agreed, I definitely work longer hours at home as compared to in the office.
The in office collaboration excuse is such BS. Any conversation that takes place when in the office is non work related being that I don't have a team member that works in the same building

We, executive leadership, feel that ideas flow quicker and more freely if you are colocated in an overly bright open office environment. Working from home does not fit well with this belief as we do not trust you. Now quit your complaining and get back to work.

Come on people. Get over the sarcasm. The OP asks a reasonable question. Working from home can be very productive. In fact had proven to be such. It's time to embrace what is obvious

You need to remember that the objective of Honeywell International is to get as many North American employees as possible to quit. Doing things that make the workers feel valued is counterproductive to that overriding objective.

Request granted immediately. We put your stuff in a box along with the web address for unemployment.

Better idea: dedicate every waking hour to finding a better company to work for. The economy will bounce back at some point.

Be ready, and abandon this sinking ship to those who will make millions as it goes under.
