Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

This was a reply to another post, but needs to appear on its own. Thanks to OP!

We have "virtual tours" coming up. What a joke. If this pandemic has shed any light on which positions are irrelevant its the market managers and some other positions above. They are trying to send out a million emails a day and set up upcoming appointments with us to try and look relevant. They know that this shut down is shining light on how little their position adds to this company. Optical and pharmacy market managers specifically. They are a waste on payroll. Stop trying to be important...you're not. And it must be nice to virtually tour with us from your home while we are in the trenches. This company disgusts me. Not even any hazard pay.

Seriously? Imagine if each of the 599 clubs in our fleet were independently ran by their GM's and assistant managers. I'd be willing to bet a third of them would go out of business in under a year.

That's why higher ups do tours and check ins, to see if the clubs are in good condition or not. Regardless of how little you know about management, your workplace would be worse if your leads and managers had no one above them to answer to.

They are trying to be essential which we all know they're not. They should be put on the sidelines and let us do our jobs without being micro-managed. No stupid resets, No audits, and more employee safety.

We have one of those. Short man syndrome big time. The guy's a florist with a 50 cent online degree. Big ego but from his behavior I think he's over compensating for other shortcomings. So to speak.
