Thread regarding Coca-Cola Co. layoffs

Reyes Coca Cola Layoff 2020

With Drive thu Covid Testing, who would think that Coca Cola would implement a Drive Thru Termination. Yes it's true. On 4/21/2020 Reyes Coca Cola reduced their salesforce by 50% in Southern California for The Food Service On Premise Division. Employee's were told to drive to the Downey Coca Cola Facility and drop off their computers, phones and badges thru their car window. They were handed a packet and final paycheck. Effective immediately. In addition they are closing down 2 Distribution centers in Carson and City of Industry. Layoffs reported in all Counties in California and Las Vegas.

Bottom line Reyes want robots not humans. If they could work the workforce 7 days around the clock they would. You all better off being laid off honestly.

I was one of the unlucky ones. I was terminated in 2019 on false charges of harassment. I've should have been severance out in 2018. I turned 51 in 2019 25 years with Coca-Cola in June. After I was discriminated against by DSM's my route for bigger and hours worked got shorter. only allowed 45 hours a week to get the route done on a weekly basis. Very frustrating when I was terminated H.R. , my DSM wasn't there . A big joke of a Company Reyes is and you see Pepsi dominating the market with service on all stages.

Am a field tech I was very Fortunate that we are a union shop but they lay-off people in Montebello .
And this cause a major shifting in our jobs now I have to drive close to 3 hrs just to go to work .this is not fare because the time it took us to get where we wanted then it’s taken away from us over night .
Reyes does not care about us they care more on saving the last penny . I don’t know what is their plan but I think they are going to drown this to the ground and make the great Coca Cola brand Disappear.inhope after all is set and done we can all go back where we belong . If this not not work we could be looking for another job . Very sad

Watch out Home Market and Small Store. They are cleaning house and using this Covid 19 as an excuse to get rid of higher salary employee's who have dedicated themselves and sacrificed hours and weekends working for this monster of a company. Anyone who has ever voiced a concern, comment etc. will be let go. Remember when they took moldy cans, hosed them down and then repackaged them? LOL... Yea... That's Reyes Coca Cola for you.

I currently work for Reyes Beer Division and warned many of the coke employees before Reyes bought the distribution rights in California. Everything I warned them about has come true. They will tell you we are family and work/life balance is important but it is a lie. If you speak out you are targeted and they will find any excuse to terminate you. With the Cover-19 outbreak they are using this pandemic as a tool to clean house of undesirables and rabble rousers. Does not matter how many years you were a loyal employee they see you as a number and wether they can save money by firing you. The soda side of the business is not a priority for the Reyes brothers. They see the soda business as a piggy bank to withdraw money to buy other beer distributors. In order to stay employed you keep your head down, agree and smile and say yes to everything. If you want to get promoted you have to kiss a–,

Wow that is Horrible News, Constellation Brands and Coke have sold their rights to a company who does not care about Family or even Mom and Pop stores who they sell too, I work for a Competing Beer wholesaler in Southern California Who is Family owned and Despite losing constellation Brands and a big energy Drink recently. But despite the Horrible circumstances we all are in, he is paying out of his own Pocket house incentives if we hit our goals or not, still paying us!!! Because he doesn’t want us to worry about Money, also allowing us to Get in and out of accounts for our protection and our customers safety, moving drivers to other positions and our entire On premise to help the whole company get done early to avoid being exposed to Corona virus.
Count Your blessings,
I know I am.

Yes I too was one of the ones that was laid off back in 2018. Stupid me I should have seen it coming when they removed the coca-cola symbol on the side of all our trucks to adhere a big Reyes Coca-Cola sign. The name Reyes was bigger then the other iconic name that we all had a sense of pride in. It just goes to show how full of it they are. There reason for lay off was to let people go that wouldn’t be able to keep up with there changing environment. It was really there way of getting rid of senior people which actually knew what they were doing. I carried my district in sales numbers for for almost 2years that I was employed by them. I had a sense of pride in the brand and would only purchase Coca-Cola brands but now I wouldn’t even buy anything Coke or Harbor distributes. Don’t want to give one penny of my money to Reyes deep pockets. I see it as though they didn’t care . The lack of compassion towards the employees is true. It is so ironic when they were buying the territory we were told by them they are all about family and treat their employees as family. Does this send a message to anyone on how they treat their family. There whole idea for them was to come in make money using the iconic Coca-Cola name and use it to buy up all the beer companies. Probably so they can raise the beer prices and screw everyone over with price gouging. Reyes brothers are all about corporate greed and only care about the three id–t that created and run their company. So sad for the many people that have given all there time, sweat, and pride in this brand for so many years.

No Sales people left. Those that are left are not motivated and just drive and sit in parking lots to log the call. Notice no comment from Reyes Coca Cola. If you think they were in a downward spiral when they took over 2 years ago, watch and wait. They will continue to lose accounts and tarnish the Coca Cola Brand name. If you ask Restaurant owners and big chains they will tell you working with Coca Cola has been their worst nightmare. CCNA how long are you going to let this continue? Read the comments!!

The Reyes Family is just as horrible and pure evil as the person running this country. The Reyes Family has divided the family of the Torrance location apart sending employees to different locations or laying them off making them jobless. This is truly heartbreaking as most have known each other for a very long time. This is a heartless act on Reyes and they have not taken care of their employees during these difficult times. It is very disappointing for them to get away with this and nothing we can do.

@1jdq+14B9jrVu That’s against the law if that’s in fact what they did , i know a couple of ppl who worked in the Torrance ca branch that are drivers and they are being shipped to LA or Downey

Reyes is full of it! They are trying to lay-off drivers who are under a teamster contract which shouldn’t be laid off! They will eventually be sued no doubt! They came in and ran the Southern California branches to the ground! Sad!! I hope everyone that was laid off of branches look into the WARN ACT because they may have violated the law, trying to use the virus as an excuse this was their plan all along

This is how our wonderful owners treat people, while our competition is paying people instead of laying them off. They also gave their lowest 60% of earners a bonus when the tax reduction went into affect. They have 270000 employees and at least act like they care, and we work for souless, selfish billionares.

they are billionaires each worth more than 6 Billion. The is corporate greed! Reyes Bros. have turned the beverage industry upside down.
That tax break the president gave the top 1% never trickled down. Instead, the reyes boys bought every distributor or distribution rights (Modelo/Corona) all over our state Causing companies to downsize and let go as much as 50% of the work force. Even 1 distributor eventually closed its doors. They are playing with peoples lives. Just so they can Leave a false legacy of what they created (my friends and those that were causalities of these takeover were the creator of the sucess of the brands) Boycott Coke Modelo, corona in California. Don't support these maggots by purchasing the products they sell! lord knows they dont support the working people that drive that sale and profit

Reyes Coca only cares about one thing and that's the Reyes family itself. If your last name isn't Reyes your just another GL number to them. All GM's and Sale Managers are not only a joke but lack the leadership skills to even lead a kindergarten class outside a building durring a fire drill. Saying they don't have money but yet GM's, managers, and supervisors gather after work and spend hundreds of dollars on food and alcohol. Charging that corporate card over and over on so called work meetings and events (dodger,Laker games, getting drunk after work). Yet Frontline employees don't even get a proper thank you lunch for their hard work because there's no budget for that. This company if you even want to call them that is a nightmare of a place to work at, and now with the layoffs and decrease in pay (merit increase) this means more work and yes less pay. That's the Reyes way, I am sad to say this Family and organization has damaged the name Coca-Cola.

This company is a– backward. They say they care and they do not. The employees that were let go received a pittance of a severance package in comparison to the bonuses they were supposed to get and were promised over and over right before Covid 19. They are a pathetic excuse for a company with a brand they have no right to carry. It’s not Coca Cola it’s Reyes. We as mdms were told we were going to be furloughed to find out layoffs were happening is just showing the dishonesty that is what Reyes has come to stand for. No severance pay for mdms and the masks they gave us were a joke none of them fit anyone and we never got anymore. I hope this company goes down in flames and everyone knows Reyes means dishonest lying billionaires....

More layoffs are coming once Torrance closes down. Not sure why it is closing down but am sure it was not due to the covid-19 virus. It was in their agenda since the beginning. It is sad that during these tough times employees are being let go. The country is struggling and majority of companies are not hiring. God bless us all.

This Layoffs have been coming, Reyes Coca-Cola just used The pandemic as an excuse to lay off their work force. The first layoff back in 2018 they laid off most of the workers that were above 50 years of age, I have the Five page paper work if you would like to see it it shows everybody’s ages and titles. This company is full of greed they are unethical, Since day one they have Been nothing but a nightmare. The Coca-Cola company I know used to be a family environment , Employees were Loyal to the brand we were one big happy family.
Now it’s just nothing but a nightmare of a company.

I went through the Downey layoff line as well. Managers and leadership didn't even have the decency to see you off. We risk everything during the virus outbreak and while other companies are offering hazard pay all we got was a free burrito from Chipotle. Pathetic. Reyes treats their employees worse then then their customers. Billionaires laying working families off so they can save a buck. It's not just unbelievable, it's unforgivable.

I was one of the MDM that was laid off . Even though my numbers were the highest of my team and my performance was better . Additionally , I was not the newest team member. I did however speak out when covid first hit about not having proper gear nor them reporting numbers of contacted people correct . Oh and of course at one point they were giving hazmat pay to merchandisers but not us and I questioned them on it . Not so much as a thank you , as I was risking my life they still decided to cut the ones that speak out .

Yes, it's true. I was one of those people that was layed off. I managed sales teams in all 4 of the distribution centers for 9 years and not so much as a thank you. Family of 5, nobody at Reyes cares. Although Covid 19 was the death nail, Reyes CCB had been in a downward spiral since they took over in 2017. Customer relationships were not a priority and the leadership teams were all for themselves. Promotions depended on who you know and if you speak up about corruption or favoritism it will fall on deaf ears.
