Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Saying what is in my heart.

If you worked with me, You will know who this is. If not, then let this be a testament. I have worked as a contractor at CoP in IT for 20+ years @ CoP. Its easy to look at the current situation and decide that the ELT has no clue. Truth is, they aren't brilliant, nor are the dumb. They have a job and they are just trying to do the best that they can. I was let go from the Permian IO on Jan 6th (told you I would tell you I was). After 20+ years, i'm not angry about it, all I feel is the pain that my friends will feel in the coming months. Keep your head up, work your a– off, and figure out how to save this industry. Support your friends, you may need the same one day.

If they took direction from COP employees they were likely co-employed. If their “project” did not have clear deliverables with start and end points then they were probably co-employed. If they answered the phone as ConocoPhillips or had a COP business card then they were likely co-employed. If they were invited to and attended or participated in employee events such as town halls or United Way events then they were likely co-employed. If they person was performing the same duties as company employees for 20 years then they probably have a co-employment case. And don’t forget the kickbacks to the hiring managers from the intermediary contractor “employer”. A 20 year pension should look pretty good by this time.

The “P” for people in SPIRIT values has always been non-existent, but it allows our leaders to look in the mirror and lie to their wives when they go home every evening.

My only question is how did a person stay being a contractor for 20 years?!? To the other person that commented out co-employment... the contractor has zero claim other than they benefited being a contractor for 20 years which should've never happened.

20 years sounds like co-employment. You probably have a claim for benefits including pension. Lawyer up.
