From earlier post: Florida is coordinating their reopening with other southern states. Recommendations are due out today. JG will be communicating the stores reopening plan to them.
So based on this, does anyone know the plan??

Do you think there will be layoffs?
How could SC locations be opening to the public? The stay at home was extended another 15 days.
Those of us in GA, not sure what other states, got an email today saying our stores would be opening up on Monday May 4. We will be getting notices within 48 hours if we are on the list to come back at this time. Not all will be coming back as it will be with minimal staffing. Email said that it was going to be curbside but stores are saying that we will be open to the public as well. Stores must be ready with social distancing practices in place in order to open. 66 doors are on the list to open early. Only associates whose store is opening received the email. Stores know the number of people they are allowed to bring back but not the names. Only store level employees are being brought back. No regional/divisional at this time.
If GA, SC, and TX plan on opening next Monday, what is the plan with employees? Everyone comes back like normal, or in phases? How do they bring the associates back? Just because they want to open doesn't mean it will be with full staff. Any news on this part of the plan?
Got a call from my store manager today. Stores in GA,TX, and SC are looking at possibly opening next Monday the 4th. There is another call tomorrow with more clarification. 66 stores in total in the first phase of opening.

Here's an excerpt from the above article:
“We’re not doing in-person sports yet no matter what,” DeSantis said. “That’s just not going to happen in May. ... Another thing in Phase One, they say movie theaters with social distance. I’m not there yet on the movie theaters. ... It’s an enclosed environment. You’re much better off being outdoors.”
You can obviously count department stores as enclosed environments. They've also been non-essential throughout all of this. Some companies are still trying to figure out how to screen employees reporting to work, not to mention customers. IMO department stores and malls in Florida will be waiting a bit longer.
Looks like Florida locations might be waiting a bit longer to reopen. While Georgia is reopening movie theaters and the like, DeSantis poured cold water on that idea - even with social distancing. The governor has been non-committal about sticking to a May 1 date to open businesses back up. Florida retailers may need to wait until mid or even late May to allow shoppers back in physical locations.
We'll what happens.
I go to insite and click on COVID there is an April 21 letter from Jeff Gennette hat talks about reopening plans
Looking around June 1 to mid June for Florida, but the opening will be staggered with top stores first then filtering down
I believe that there is language in one of Florida's executive orders limiting certain indoor activities until May 8. It has also been mentioned in this thread that public recommendataions may not appear until around May 1.
The reopening of the south is being lampooned by the rest of the country. Florida's government seems to be taking a more measured approach than, say, Georgia when it comes to opening things up.
I’m guessing we have another two or three weeks left before department stores start to open, possibly longer, but not may 1
Do you think the stores in Florida will open up next weekend,? Cause I know the 1st of May is Friday. What are your thoughts?
From what I heard, stores are going to reopen by very very slow and limited hours, some will just offer curbside service, managers are still required to work to do the jobs of the foroughled hourly associates, skeleton staff to say the least. I believe some people will have pay cuts as well.
Hopefully they will lift the order up on the 1st and aloud the retail workers go to work so they can make money. I'm pretty sure they will have limited hours of operations for the 1st 2 -3 weeks and then everything should be back to normal. I guess we will just have to wait and see, what does everyone else think?
Finalized plans won’t be made public until next week according to this article. Macy’s likely has their plans, but they still need to coordinate with the state. And both could change.
Just wait for the official word before getting to excited.
