Genpact COVID Layoffs 2020

This week Genpact has laid off large number of people. In some teams such as Transformation the team sizes have been reduced to 50% due to not staffed on billable projects in US. Similar downsizing is going on in other geographies including Europe & India.
Really bad time for the company laying off in large numbers within a period of couple of days

Well they are terminating more people again in 2022. Based on G stock; Is the company really doing as good as they say? They have lost several contracts in 2021 and 2022.

Getting layoff. The management is supporting to find a job however at the same time there is no transparency related to Severance package!! Should not the company reveals that specially when one would need to do lot of financial planning to be in a situation of job less? I wish this message reach to Genpact stakeholders to reveal such things at least to the concerned employee if they wish not to disclosed Severance as policy. Being without job is hardest specially to an single earning member of the family during Covid. I also hope Genpact Leadership can understand that and this layoff happening to us but who knows if they are the next in line !! Please do not focus of profit specially this time and put some focus on your employees too who scarifies so much by working extremely hard and make Genpact what it is today.

They need to learn a lesson and the nincompoop CEO Tiger should be fired. They don’t have what it takes to compete with the Big 4

Heard more layoffs coming because Tiger only cares about a profits. Most people I know at G are hoping for lay-off anyways because they are looking anyways

The most horrible work experience ever. Please let me know when the suit begins. I sacrificed a lot for this company to just throw people to the curb in such an unprofessional manner.

I was also laid off right before my kick off meeting with client. I was worried that I wasn’t billable and was told is going to be ok. I ask several question before I took the position and was told Genpact is financially stable and was stated in several town hall meetings I attended. During my exit interview I let HR know my disappointment because I left a good job to join Genpact. What a major mistake!

Another wave of staff was laid off on Friday, mostly in EMEA after they were given 45 days to find a new job. Anyone know what the numbers are?

I got laid off with not even a single days notice. My VP scheduled a individual meetings with 10+ people in our US team along with HR and laid all off over the call same day. It was all very random and based on luck depending on who were not staffed on any project. Since there is no work in pipeline and condition of company is really bad so they are randomly firing people due to no work. A lot of people in senior leadership firing junior staff to save their own jobs. Strict action to be taken against Genpact for treating tenured employees so poorly

I was laid off by Genpact after 10 years of service, no warning. My boss scheduled a meeting and HR joined the call. He said nothing other than he hates this part of his job. I was in management for my entire tenure and I would never treat anyone this way. He acted like a coward. Sign me up for the class action lawsuit!

Genpact’s response to coronavirus is a lesson in what not to do during a pandemic

“At the beginning of March, Genpact recognised coronavirus as a risk to its India business. But for nearly three weeks after that, the company seems to have paid little heed to the health and wellbeing of its workforce in the country.

Even as other firms began adopting remote work policies in early March, India’s second-largest business process outsourcing (BPO) firm forced its employees to come to work, several people have alleged on Twitter.”

Some people were given 90 days notices so they are still working through July with placement services offered.

When I heard about this and asked management, I was told was a very small layoff...I'm wondering what the numbers really were? Either way, announcements should have been made to warn people.

They avoided warn notices by chopping parts of teams and not a full blown head count reduction. Warn notices go out when a large number of employees are impacted. My guess is they are trying to go under the radar to prevent any reputation risk.

How many people have they laid off? Didn’t see a WARN notification.

Genpact has acted very irresponsibly by laying off large number of people without any notice or real severance package. The communication from leadership including the CEO was to retain and place people where there are requirements. In some functions half of the teams members are wiped out overnight without any reason or opportunity to look for opportunities within the organization. Weirdly enough performance was not even a criteria considered and it was purely basis if anyone isn’t staffed on billable project. As a result Genpact has lost a lot of talented & skilled individuals who shouldn’t have gone in the first place. The leadership seems clueless about how to do this and it is done really poor job

Clueless is an understatement! They boast and brag about what an amazing company they are and they are doing us all favours by their “cost cutting” measures.

Post ID: @1tsb+14Jil0MX

Genpact management is clueless. They are just another example of a company gettinG exposed to use COVID19 as an excuse for cost cutting to save $$ before earnings because they can’t manage their own numbers.

Couldn’t agree more! I just got laid off yesterday with no notice period, notification or real severance package. This is by far the worst company ever and I only say this because during townhalls, meetings, and 1 on 1 meetings it was repeated on more than one occasion that Genpact didn’t want to lose employees and that they would move them accordingly. They don’t care about their employees, just a bottom line dollar for them. Reach out to me for any information needed. A class action lawsuit will ensue and it begins now.
