Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

For people who went back to work today, what was it like?

How did it go? I know it’s very early but do you think Macy’s is doing enough? How were your colleagues reacting? What was the overall vibe like?

Nope. Most stores were NOT just curbside. Most were open to the public on Monday. I saw the list.

Customers allowed to enter store without masks? Yes, of course. No local mandate in my state or county for masks.

In response to this question:

"If they already knew which locations were going to open, and which registers were going to get it, why wasn't it already installed prior to opening? It's not like the coronavirus took today off."

Our store is not open to the public yet, we are only doing fulfillment. The plexi will be installed before the store will open. It seems that the company is taking the measures needed to keep us safe. It will be up to individual store leadership to follow the rules of masks, gloves, social distancing, etc.

This is a good thread. I wish Macy's would add a message board to the covid19 page with questions like this to insite so us colleagues can discuss. HINT HINT TO THE EXECS SEEING THIS!

Are customers allowed to enter the stores without masks ?

Not every register will get plexiglass. We don't need to use them all right now. We are using only about 40% of them and we have been told do NOT open or use any without the plexiglass. Was fine yesterday.

Had a great day returning yesterday. All plexiglass was up, signs throughout the building and the distancing circles on the floor. We have disposable masks and gloves, waiting on the fabric ones to arrive. Plenty of bottled sanitizer and wipes at wrapstands, waiting for the fixtures to arrive for the big bottles. Everyone scheduled showed up and worked their shift. Lots of customers shopping, a few returns. A few complaints about being closed and not being able to pay a bill or pick up a presale.

Not all stores are open to customers. Most are just fulfillment/curbside pickup.

Fulfillment for the company is WAY behind, we walked into over 1300 picks. The plexiglass is not up yet but it has been decided which registers will get it and someone from maintenance came to look at the locations. Gloves and masks were provided for those of us that worked and we kept our distance from one another. So far, so good...I am happy to see the precautions that are being taken, I hope all stores are experiencing this!!

I'm curious as to whether there are plexiglass shields on each register, plenty of sanitizer and distancing signs anywhere as JG promised to have in all stores when they open. Anyone?
