If you have long tenure and over 50 with this company be worried. As seen with their other layoffs they target this group and hire younger people to bring their salaries down and to control health care costs. They also are using more and more tech workers from India.

Why Schwab is hiring heavily, if they want to fire people. Why they are having so many contractors? It just don’t make sense. It only give temporary boost to stock prices.
I've been layed off three times at Schwab. The first one during the early 2000s, their first massive layoff. They even setup an educational fund back them, funded by Chuck and his wife. Got a great package, 6 months of severance, while being on payroll for 2 months without having to come into work. Was hired back two years later. Then got layed off in 2008 unpleasantness. This time I got 8 months of severance, same deal with the 2 months of being on payroll. got hired back 3 years later. Then got layed off again last November. This time I got the maximum 10 months of severance, having over 20 years of service under my belt. Hoping to get hired back again soon.
I have heard they are laying off 200% of employees. Each person will be laid off twice.
