Don’t be surprised

At this point nothing this company does should be surprising, the only question you should be asking is what will save them money or make them money short term that’s is all they are thinking about. The shareholders are the most important people to Lance and the rest of the management team the rest of the system that has a good amount of employees better wise up because no one is safe from these money saving plans. Jenks, De Soto, and Denver shutting down for a “month” could happen at other locations as well. Keep your head on a swivel it’s only going to get worse.

When someone starts work on something they expect to be paid before they start work scab shops aren’t as ignorant as the contractors being burned by up still waiting to get paid for the work they did, they are likely asking for the money upfront not waiting on a phone call to start or stop the work they’ve been burned before by this company.

You can tell the scab shop to Stop when you have a bad month or bad quarter.. if UP owns it then they will lay-off when you have a bad quarter or month .. and pay for start up and shut downs .. Jenks is not needed in PSR

Sending broken locomotives to a scab shop does nothing but increase the cost and wait time to get it back if everyone is sending their broken stuff. If a company has a back shop to utilize it would be wise to use it and keep both wait time and cost down. When you start to run out of locomotives to pull freight because everything is damn near broken to pull from leasing is the only thing left and everyone know s most of the stuff they can lease breaks quicker and then they are stuck fixing it.

If you look at the RRs that have and are implementing PSR ... the back shops “go away” and you “sweat the assets” ... when the assets brake park it a grab another ... when the broke ones pile up “sell them” (NS is selling now ) that’s the problem in this downturn in rail there is a HUGE glut of locomotives and nobody wants them..

@yzu+14 there is work that can be done. Pull some of the locomotives that have been placed in storage and overhaul/fix them they will be needed to replace the stuff that’s breaking down now, he\ send those locomotives that have been breaking down to be overhauled if they need to be overhauled don’t send it off somewhere to sit and then realize oh $hit it’s really broke to the point it needs to be torn down completely when pulling it back out. Maintaining the fleet makes sense (which these current leaders don’t realize or care about the future of the company) don’t just set it out somewhere where it will only degrade more and take longer to repair when the demand is there. There are plenty of things this company can do to make money other then shutting locations down which is the easy route it’s just that anything else takes common sense and a bit of effort.
