When you get a “box” from Optum without severance pay, what’s the motivation to spend another second for their convenience?
To be reconditioned for the offshore cheap labor?
Maybe it’s more time effective to just trash it all & be done!

My final day was the first week of Jan I was notified the first week of Dec of my layoff. I actually asked my mgr about sending the stuff back this was weeks after I had already left. By the end of Jan I got my severence even got a hefty bonus and no one I mean no one has ever reached out to me for equipment. It's in my garage collecting dust the laptop printer docking station and monitor. At this point I'm not sending sh!t back. I already accepted a new gig in Feb making $60k more still working from home I can careless now.
I got my severance and assumed they didn’t care about my work laptop. After a month my manager called my cell and emailed me asking me to send the machine back. I microwaved my laptop for 5 seconds (until it wouldn’t turn back on) before sending it back. This was over two months ago.
Eff this place.
If you don't send it back they threaten to file a police report against you for theft and report whatever they say the value is as a bad debt on your credit. UHC errors caused delays in returning my equipment- didn't matter, they threatened me. Theft charges and bad credit can make you unhireable and cause problems with your license. They were much more efficient about threatening me than about fixing the pro.
The 'leadership' at Optum decided that they should outsource all IT equipment fulfillment, repair, etc. So it's not surprising that the guys who got their notice recently no longer give a sh&t about things.
I am very sorry to hear about your troubles. Do you need assistance?
The boxes mailed to me were crushed & punctured. There wasn’t any packing material other than 2 tiny bubble wrap bags & some big black foam that didn’t fit anything.
They want everything including separate old monitors. So I packed it the best I could using items I had from around my home that I wouldn’t miss to stabilize the equipment. It took me all day & the boxes were very heavy.
It occurred to me to call a local UPS store- closed- to let them do it all on UHG’s account with UPS but one of the 2 codes stopped working when I was just trying to set up pick up of the packages. I have 2 dollars & was in line at a food pantry with my daughter a few days ago... it’s all on the front porch in a ghetto waiting for pickup now. My muscles are sore & my heart broken so screw it.
Hope they like old dog bones & appreciate what I didn’t use for packing living next to a cow farm.
Still deciding if getting money hungry lawyers involved in the morning will make me feel better. I was trying to return to work after a critical accident with accommodations, in writing, for months without any effort or good faith from them. RN 10 years & not even given any severance pay?
Good old Optum.... even the 401K values crashed & will cost me to access just to pay bills.
