I can't help but wonder what the optimal full line store count looks like. After the previously disclosed Neighborhood Store closings, Macy's would be left with about 396 full line stores. Some might remember Karen Hoguet mentioned 3 or 4 years ago that a study was done of all stores to determine if Macy's was being built from scratch, which of our current stores would we actually still open. There was about 250 stores on that list. So, I believe the optimum Store count lies between that 250 and the 396 post Neighborhood count. My opinion is between 300 and 350 full line locations. I'd like to hear others opinions (serious responses only, please).

You must be from Michigan, because I don’t think winkelmans was national only to Michigan.
My humble opinion is to have boutique stores similar to the old Winkelmens. Our stores are to large and not catering to the area they are in....We can have the entire line on the internet and have a high end store with a taste of our lines and a personal assistant to help the client. I'm a current employee on furlough. I work at Macy's because it's a great place to work. Good benefits and I buy everything I can there. If you look down on this job that's your problem not mine.
I'm so damn sick of "stay safe" !
Just stop it. We aren't id–ts. We know the drill. Sit at home away from everything and everyone and die of a heart attack on your couch. We aren't guaranteed tomorrow.
250 full line and eventually 250 standalone outside of the malls Macy’s backstage. I would keep bluemercury and get down to 20 bloomingdales
Retired red badge here........almost 35 years.....I am thinking about 300 stores......the online opportunity can still grow, especially if customers know what they want and do not want to come into a store during this pandemic. Please stay safe, to everyone........
