Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

Why is European leadership silent?

Nothing from Angela Brav.
Nothing from the Country Leaders.
I am lucky because I have a great manager who keeps me informed.
But I want to hear from our leaders, because I know that our financial position is fully broken, and I know then are going to fire us all but they are too ashamed to communicate.

One sentence you hope UK adopts employee protection and the next you hope people are fired.
Just end the pain and sell all of europe.

Hertz UK & Uxbridge HEL employees - we can only hope that the UK government follows the lead of Germany and France in adopting a more pragmatic approach to employee protection (see the BBC article).

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-54090122?intlink_from_url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/topics/c77jz3md4rdt/germany&link_location=live-reporting-story

That being said, I still feel sick about the number of highly paid and highly ineffectual individuals that remain active when really they need to be fired - there will be no need for these roles in the future Hertz. RMgmt. ukLeadership. You know who you are.

Good luck to us all.

2 days to go then?
Do we get an email from HR, or an invite to a town hall where they tell us how sad they are to have to do this?
One thing is for sure - Angela won’t be looking us in the eye.

AB come out, come out wherever you are.

Hiding from the people?

Stand up and own the disaster you have created.

Maybe then we will score you 1/10.

And what about for the countries? Is is something decided by US/HEL or each country decides for itself? We are still blind, nothing happens no one says something...

Government furlough scheme ends 31 Oct 2020.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-you-could-be-covered-by-the-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme#while-youre-on-furlough

Statutory consultation period for >100 employees being made redundant is 45 days.
https://www.gov.uk/staff-redundant/redundancy-consultations

31 Oct 2020 minus 45 days = Wednesday 16 September 2020.

Consultation period should be started on or around this date.

Colleagues - you must keep on top of this! Trust me - the list of names has been submitted.

Questions are:

  • Does Hertz have the money for this number of redundancies? (Posts on this site suggest not)
  • Are Hertz HR organised enough to get this right? (No, but I think I just helped them a bit)
  • Have you been using your time wisely to find work? (I hope so)
  • Does Hertz have a plan? (NO)

Can you please define “real soon”? Tomorrow? Next week? Next month?

To my British friends in furlough (and more besides),
It’s happening real soon - most of you are going to be fired. The money is gone, your revenue is nonexistent, your leadership failing to perform, and failing you.
I hope you have used the time since April wisely, and are able to move on to something new.
Don’t expect anything from Hertz.

hey @22udc - no, the IT does not own this site, it's a copy/paste but should be helpful... deletions are mostly triggered by threats, bullying, etc. also, people often use names and that's not ok on the site - iwould not want my name to be listed here.anyhow see below

((((((((((((((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

On deletions, someone posted this a couple of days ago, source below:

I've been on this site since 2015 (first with Verizon and now with GM) so hear me out:

  • mods/admins exist, they are silent tho
  • they delete messages, sometimes in bulk (eg all threads or all messages you ever posted by you or someone else may be nuked)
  • they block ip addresses, some vpns will not work as they are already blocked
  • some words are blocked and trigger reviews, try to enter xes in reverse and they'll review you
  • here are things that will trigger a review, purge or block: swearing, use of names, politics, attacking other people
  • got blocked once, never heard back from them and had to switch ip
  • if someone is crossing the line you can report it on the contact page
  • dont post in weird threads, they may bulk block you (if you do, use vpn)
  • they really cannot stop you posting, use a vpn and you are ok - if you are using a vpn, dont use bing ones like nordVPN as they have them blocked - pick a smaller providedr
  • try to avoid any discussion about race or identity groups, they dont f around with that - that's like an instant ban and all your older messages get deleted

i am sure there is more stuff that i am forgetting but this is it in the nutshell...

If the company is in the level of financial disarray suspected, it’s now simply a waiting game before staff will need to join the long list of creditors that will be demanding compensation from Hertz,

Uk employees take a look at the GOV/UK site where you can find your rights when your employer is insolvent

I’m not wanting to add to anyone’s anxiety, but educate yourselves now.
This advise comes from a place of respect, as someone who cares about employees , unlike AB and the rest of the ILT

They would be better if they paid them to go!!

Staying is the problem AB is so under skilled and qualified for this job it’s terrifying, if they want a figure head at least getting one with a brain would benefit us instead of saw dust??

Just pay her to go things will improve.

Are they worth it?

Just months after Hertz Global Holdings Inc. shelled out $16.2 million in extra pay meant to keep executives from leaving as the coronavirus pandemic decimated the travel industry, the car rental company wants to pass out $14.6 million more in bonuses.

Tell me how they can justify any bonus payment to the senior executives?

by

Post ID: @1Sfzs+14PvfaDW

So wait font line employees are being screwed on commissions, all bonus reduced and the leadership is applying for more, SO THEY can stay motivated????

I feel so sorry for AB as she does nothing, communicates to no one and has made some of the biggest f ups on people and business decisions ever, happy to make sure she does not exceed her target. They should be investigating her incompetence not thinking about how to retain the circus clown.

From today I’m reducing my productivity in line with the commission decrease, I have received. We should sacrifice to save the company while she needs some more money to keep her in a job she can’t even do??

The line is crossed 😡

Mr Stone it would take you 5 seconds to call a few leaders in Europe to find out how bad things have become.

This is now an SOS.....

Let’s congratulate AB on his amazing #pefomance...

Anyone know what that word even means, a global town hall what a mess, I assume no video so we would not see the shaking, and I’m sorry 2020 has issues but they are amplified by the c-ap leadership..She’s the captain and she drove the ship straight at the iceberg..go home worst leadership ever and the past was not good. And before you do sack the CFO and HR also abysmal.

AB has nothing to do with EU losing money every year. Every country is poorly run and makes excuses.
What communication is everyone waiting for? Business is not there, which means cost reduction is the priority. Vehicles, people, and building costs need to go away.
We should be coming up with a plan to get rid the level that is causing the issues (the top are just the inept face- whilst they should go, the next lower level is where Hertz should start). VP RG and his team and all the country managers. When business and travel were strong-still managed to mess it up.
My friend that works at Sixt says they will never consider Hertz as competition.

with all the information shared, how can you still be unsure about your job? or any Hertz job? company profitability was fueled by debt and marginal even in the pre-covid times. we make no money on daily rentals (how could we think it is good business to rent 30k asset for 30 pounds per day???) and our cash cows like supercover, inter-continental tourists, admin penalties and occasional upsell are dead from corona and will remain dead. franchise fees also massively down because our licensees are making only half the revenue. add worst leadership team ever and you have your recipe for disaster. objectively, in an industry that is shrinking, it is natural that the size of the pie will not reduce proportionally for all the players and some will seize to exist. that would be us.

don’t be naive and wait for the “official” redundancy letter. update your CV and start applying. as one marketing director rightly pointed out in her farewell letter “there is a whole world outside of Hertz.” go and explore instead of getting upset about Brav or the fab4/BCG fiasco in the making. do something for yourself because the company will do nothing for you.

  1. Brav couldn’t find herself a friend with an iPhone to film her speaking for a Global Uodate.
  2. Spelling mistakes on titles within her slides!! #peformance and then again on the next slide. It might not be a huge deal but it’s the detail that counts. How many senior leaders have missed it!!

Hotline goes to Finch. I have ‘blown the whistle’ previously, and it was a complete waste of time - swept under the carpet and ignored. Look at how they handled the disclosure of Gehlans past misdemeanours - ignored.

We would be better off writing to the U.K. newspapers - they love a rental car scandal, and it ties in well with the stories they are running about redundancies. I’m sure they would love to know about how Hertz leadership are mismanaging COVID-19.

On the hotline?

I don’t think one person can change the world but if many people do it they have to take notice, AB is getting away with murder she’s making some of the worst decisions I have witnessed not to mention her dementia?

If you want a job start having a voice, writing too anyone in the UK submitting a question via the channels they want is a complete waste of time.

Hotline is an external party called Safecall.

You can phone or report the issue online, if you mention AB the board will see the complaints, I have just sent mine.

Enough is enough.

What hotline? There’s an email for the ILT. You cannnnn email but Angela doesn’t respond. She gets another ILT member to reply with the same old BS.

And the Q&A session? What a joke! I submitted 3 questions none of which were ever shown or answered. And yes I did submit way before the deadline.

If there’s a hotline I’m more than happy to call. But what can a low level manager actually challenge senior management to do? They are getting away scot free as they don’t have to face anyone whilst all employees are either on furlough or wfh.

People

This is a ridiculous situation, sat at home and the best we can do is hope someone posts a little update on here.

We have a hotline may I suggest we start using it?

AB is the worst leader we have the unfortunate, In fact misfortune to be lead by.

But the below post is right we are allowing this ILT to get away with this behaviour.

Our silence is allowing them to continuously impact both the company and the people.

Franky, let’s start making some noise either email Paul Stone and make sure he knows how bad this leadership really is or use the hotline if you want to remain anonymous, but if you do nothing we will only have ourselves to blame when in Oct we have no job’s and the lunatic is still in charge.

Let’s make some noise.

I don't want to be rude but the ones who are still hoping show some signs of stupidity.
Nothing to expect except the end.
We have the leaders we deserve.
People kept on smiling and kissing these id–ts. We should have challenged them.
Do you know how long it would take you to make as much money as the lowest salary of the ILT or the Board?
The organization is rotten to the bone.
And us, the employees are just stupid sheeps. Taking pressure and doing extra efforts for lies makers!
It is blunt but sadly true.

W T actual F? We finally receive a message from our leader and it’s not even relevant to those of us who have been left out on the furlough sc-apheap? Has our ILT any conscience at all? I’m so angry that I’ve gone beyond feeling sad.

Dear AB and the rest of the ILT,

It’s great that you have acknowledged our frontline colleagues. What about those furloughed? We have been stuck with NO real news for the past 4 months. Will we have jobs after October? Will we be able to support our families? We need real concrete communication. All the fluff we have received is just fluff! Oh and what happened to the once a week communication you promised?

I was rehired back in the US but had to start at practically min wage and the commission now is a flat 4%, not much at all but they did rehire alot of people back in the US the last couple of weeks because they layed off too many back in April, the agents that were left were doing 1,000 rentals a month, just insane. We are still slow in the US but getting better..We are still a quarter of the staff that we were before covid but if business picks up, they say they will hire more and more and hope to get where we used to be but it all depends on the travel industry. The cars are being sold like crazy on a daily bases so the inventory, when you are trying to make sales for upgrades is very slim. If we do survive, we will be a much smaller co...but its not just hertz... Avis/budget/payless is now capping commission at 6% and now Enterprise is making natl/alamo just 18 bucks an hr for agents w no more commission. We just have to hang in and see what happens

And another search gave me this article, which suggests “Hertz’s bankruptcy will have a big impact. It's likely that there will be future layoffs, in addition to the 16,000 employees who have already lost their jobs or have been furloughed. It's reasonable to believe that the hours of the remaining staff will be reduced and furloughed workers won’t be asked to return. “

I think the important point is that they are all still on full pay.
Interesting piece on the BBC website today about exec pay - certainly true for Hertz.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53654712
Hertz is bankrupt, the exec shared a $16m bonus and International leadership hasn't even given a symbolic gesture.
Bankruptcy is not a surprise. So disappointing.
