I was told today buy a pretty senior operations person. Again this is second hand info. I'm not looking for drama.
Verizon is going with a national consistent reopening process for retail. Press releases have been publicly put out regarding Verizon's new contact-less retail model that will remain in place for a significant amount of time.
Verizon stores that are corporately owned will have a nationwide time schedule it will not vary by state or locality.
Round 1 will begin in June someone off stores are starting to re-open up this month. In June expect stores hours to be expanded a bit but not to pre covid levels. a few of the employees that are at home doing nothing will be called back in stages to cover stores and not necessarily their store. people who are now working two or three days a week will resume and retail stores a more normal schedule. The headcount levels per shift will be low one manager to 2-3 reps depending on store.
the remaining pool of retail employees will remain in their work-from-home position until the retail environment and demand increases.
There is still discussion over quota. The general thinking is that any retail employee no matter what job they're doing will continue to get paid at risk with no opportunity to multiply. however there is discussion of people who have been deployed to tell us a house to have an opportunity to multiply only commission-based system. The company believes that could cause an uproar as some retail employees have the ability to make more money than others just because of the job they were picked for. So it sounds like commissions will be a no-go for the short long term.
So we are being told to expect to do this work from home for 3 to 6 months.
Again this is just information that I have been told by someone who in the past has been pretty reliable.
a few people in my district got notified today of a work-from-home roll so they're still sending out equipment and getting people setup you would think at this point if June 1st was going to be a light switch and everyone goes back to the store they would stop sending out laptops
