Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

3D product manager

So, there is a posting for Senior 3D product manager. This opens many questions below.

  1. It is sourced in Cary NC. Seems to indicate NC is more than a destination for not yet laid off IT staffers.
  2. It causes one to wonder: why now? Is this recognition of a sudden need? If a replacement, why did the former person exit?
  3. With the exception of bullets on an investor presentation without substance, there has been no public materials indicating any significant investment in 3D beyond the Vader purchase. Is this the first?
  4. Read the posting then ask yourself: what is the likelihood of such a candidate wanting to work for dying XRX? Also ask yourself: Was this post was written by anyone with actual domain knowledge?
  5. Seems like they want two or more people for the price of one. Does anyone notice a pattern here?

There was news earlier than this:

Rosman will be based in NC. Make of that what you will.

No reason to assume this is the Vader product. It may be, but it doesn't say that. Largely the Vader product is driven by the original father/son team, plus another very smart guy who I assume came over with them from Buffalo. I don't imagine any of them are planning on moving to NC to continue working the product. I've always assumed though that their stay at Xerox is short term, and they only agreed to come work at Xerox until the knowledge has been transferred. As far as I know, all the knowledge is in Webster, NY so having a product manager in NC would be strange.

There are other 3D products being worked on, or possibly being acquired, so more likely this is for something other than Vader.

Re #1 it doesn’t bode well for those in upstate NY Webster thinking the site or mfg expertise would keep 3D there.

Toner and sanitizer town before long.

I found it here: https://xerox.taleo.net/careersection/xerox_shared_external_portal/jobdetail.ftl?job=20000739&tz=GMT-04%3A00&tzname=America%2FNew_York

And this reminds me how someone-could be XRX HR, could be a consultant - are unbelievably disconnected from what is needed in a job role. Most of the postings fit this category. It’s as if there is an upper level mgr writing every one of them.

Positions filled this way will be loading up the company with people unable to perform to expectation and that will drive further workplace toxicity via huge egos, impossible demands, and desperation to succeed.
