Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

I like my job at Pembina

Am I the only one who actually likes his job at Pembina??? That's why I'm so scared of layoffs, I don't want to lose my job. I see so many people commenting on how we'll be lucky to be laid off and I honestly can't understand that kind of reasoning. What will you do afterward? Where will you find a new job? Who will be hiring?

I know I keep praying to not have to figure out answers to those questions.

If it's a one month for a year, I don't think there would be so many people complaining here... The package is the worst I've ever seen in my life of my career. Cut half of whatever you expect.

What type of severances are being offered? Not asking for exact dollar amounts, but is there a formula ? (For example, 1 month of salary for every year worked at Pembina)

Pembina won't exercise any efforts to "scrub" the internet of negative posts. Instead, they will have internal stooges and ex-staff who still drink the company Kool-aid post glowing things about them online. I've already seen two posts from ex-staff on LinkedIn that did not pass the smell test. Guarantee for every negative post made about Pembina on sites like Glassdoor, indeed, and Monster, someone from Pembina will be there to spin things in favor of the cult.

100% this is a fake post. Pembina, as usual, only hired the "very best"!!

Like other companies I've worked for, I like those I deal with day-to-day, but hate the management. Accountants are running the show and people are just another line in the ledger.

Am I the only one here thinking that this post was made by someone still affiliated with Pembina to stoke fear and worry in any current employees reading this site? I wouldn't put it past some of them there.

That is great you love your job. So did (most of) us but this isn't our first layoff rodeo in a cyclical industry. I feel a number of us simply have grown tired of the incompetence at Pembina and knowing nothing will ever change there, it was an opportunity to exit while at least getting some money (even if the severance was mere peanuts. FYI, if you are let go). A few additional comments: a) In the end, you are nothing but an expendable number to the company. You need to remind yourself of that every single morning when you leave for work. No matter who you work for. Ignore the family-like culture b—s— at Pembina b) Oil and Gas isn't everything. Yes times are incredibly tough but opportunity lies everywhere if you are creative and motivated enough to find it c) Pembina ISN'T EVERYTHING. Your post essentially says that you are a sla-ve handcuffed to the company which is incredibly unfortunate... Although, you aren't alone in thinking like that and Pembina knows it... Kind of like a cult.

If they will lay you off tomorrow and give you a miserable severance, I will see what you will think by then
