Open Office Concept

Before I left MST last fall, there was a lot of work done to reconfigure the first floor areas to "open office" type configuration. Something along the line of 4x4 spaces with clear sightlines (no cube walls more than 6" above desk (what we at one time labelled "call center" configuration). Work had started on the 3rd floor areas as well.

I believe there was discussion that the new spaces at Long Island City building were going to be configured similarly. With lots of 'collaboration' space similar to JC Main 2nd floor.

Given all the considerations about social distancing... and seperation of folks, has anyone heard what will happen with the 'open office' concept/construction?

Open office is a scam concept in Macy's since managers and up has closed offices.

As much as I get the idea of open concept and the collaboration that comes with it... in real life it doesnt really work. People are constantly complaining about others being loud. It's also breeding ground for illness.

Much easier to keep on top of the herd and make them feel less than. We are lucky if there is a roof over us. God forbid you need to focus on your work or make a phone call. Then, of course, there are the health implications. Maybe we will just wear masks and gloves,
Will be interesting to see if city properties are devalued after this mess.
