Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Letter from the company we all know and love

Today I got this letter in the mail from Sears stating that the wage deduction for me will not be made for xyz pay period. It further states that I'd started a leave of absence in April and then put "seasonal layoff" as the explanation for this leave of absence.
I wasn't on a leave of absence and it wasn't a seasonal layoff. For HVAC folks, the warm months are not when we'd have seasonal layoff if we were going to have one (we never have before).
They sent this to the department of social services and myself.

They sent us home due to the Covid-19 situation, according to what they told us when they let us all go. Now they're saying it's a seasonal layoff. I wish they'd get their lies straight.

I wish they'd get their lies straight.

But that wouldn't be the modern Sears, that would be modern Target, Walmart, HomeDepot etc - if they could get their lies straight...

He’s just being a troll about his benefits. He’s one of those people that “left” sears but he/she is still obsessed with the company.

$23.00 per pay check, and you want to come back to Sears and pay $743.00 a pay check, at least that what medical was when I was there 7 years ago..

I got the same letter, called HR they have no wage assignments for me on record, although they cc the letter to a creditor, that garnished my wages years ago....and which has been settled in 2015. Cannot get any answers from HR why they sent this letter and they cannot give me a reason.

it matters because to get federal unemployment the business has to have sent people home because of covid. If it's just a seasonal layoff, you get no federal assistance. I don't know what sears would have to gain by changing the wording since they arent having to pay anything anyway.

They sent a form letter. No reason to customize, when all they are doing is notifying the state and you that you’ve been laid off, making you eligible to apply for unemployment

If you're laid off, though, you should be able to get unemployment
