Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

BMWED

Brothers and sisters

The Union says they have not been approached by Union Pacific and that the company is lying. They claim they will NOT allow a pay cut and that our agreement says nothing about pay cuts.

The railroads will be told NO pay cuts by BMWED and therefore jobs will be cut as a result. Sorry to those of you that will not work but if the Union gives in we lose long term. Get ready there’s going to be layoffs soon.

Do not take the pay cut. They want us to work the same and pay less when the company makes more money every quarter. No! They want less employees, let them keep cutting, these jobs can’t be done without bodies but they can be done by the same amount of people making minimum wage, they will take it if we give it. Let them explain to the FRA why work isn’t getting finished, how sympathetic will they be when the answer is they just keep cutting more people. The fact is they need people. Hold strong, no pay cuts!

I would rather represented by a t–d! Our union is not only worthless, they use our money to fund their trips and expenses they call essential. They use our money to pay their bills and build home projects for themselves. These are facts and they know it!

Why would they offer buyouts when the can just cut you?

Our union is a JOKE. It has failed us over and over to the point the company knows they can punk them anytime.

  1. If we have to take pay cuts, the union dues should be cut 2 times the cut....10% pay reduction = 20% union due reduction.
  1. If pay cuts are enacted (and they will be), the company should offer buy outs for those that wish to leave.

If any of you still believe in your vaunted "union".....you must still believe in the tooth fairy. We are going to get pay cuts and cut offs, big time.

ARASA signed off on a pay cut already. Check it out. So I’m sure the BRC will follow suit cause there upper union representation is more worried about looking like John Gotti than helping the members.

Take the layoffs never accept a pay cut. Company should of held on to some of their billions in record profits over the last several years. They now want a bailout from their labor what a joke. How can any pay cuts be justified didn’t the RR receive huge tax breaks from our government a few years ago? This created even more wealth for business which some passed on to their employees I don’t remember this company doing anything at all to spread the wealth to their hard working employees. Other than the ones at the top who are already wealthy.

@OP The only people who can tell owners what to do with their capital are the owners. You don't get to dictate how you're paid. If you don't like your job or how you're paid then get out and get another one. If you can't get another job then you're being paid what you're worth.

I’d rather be cut off for awhile instead of taking a “temporary” pay cut that will end up becoming permanent. Prime time to be working out of contract and take a pay cut that’ll stay with us as a concession for this next contract.
