Most people can’t afford such a monthly expense I don’t think. And COBRA is only temporary. This situation makes the case for a single payer system or Medicare for all I think.

You can stay on COBRA for 18 months. It is expensive but if you have a condition where you or a family member needs uninterrupted insurance it could bridge the gap between jobs.

How long can someone continue COBRA? The ACA might be a better option. 800 a month is a lot but I’ll probably regret it if I get sick without insurance.

It is $1700.00 a month for my wife and I with a really good Kaiser Plan. Kids all grown and older than 26.
