I am hearing that there are RAs already in progress in Australia. Any truth in this?

Just had 2 mates in HCS share that they’ve been tagged - last day is end of April.
Somewhere between 50-65 people their manager said. Very sad, very unexpected.
Arvind had promised no layoffs in 2022.
Well - the calendar has turned over - it’s definitely 2023 now.
It must be a bi annual event, exit stage right after almost 25 years
New round of layoffs happening this week - look out for a 1:1 meeting with your manager to be told the news. 10+ year GBS CAI – and got the "invite" for this coming week. Not the Christmas gift I was looking for...
And... they are giving out Christmas Hampers to all Aussie IBMers too - gee - that's nice.
Yes.. another one I just spoke to in GTS, managed services. July 31. Has 7 days to respond to why not. Told him not to get his hopes up but give it a shot. Over 25yrs in, huge skills. Just fkg sad.
@3zwx What kind of severance do you expect with your July 31 exit? The now standard 1 month?
Which sectors and service lines in GBS are affected?
same - exit date 31st july.
I have been working as a technical consultant in GBS.
I'm in Operations/SMS and am waiting to get the official word I'm out.
For those who were told that their roles in IBM are ending, what are your roles?
3tnk. I’m sorry you have been hit. When the shock/anger wears off, could you give some details of the RA What division (GTS,GBS, cognitive, server, or sales) you were in, and if it seems to be wide spread with some sort of “game plan”.
me too - exit date 31st July
@3tnk I'm sorry to hear about that. It may not feel like it at the moment, but you will come out of it at the other side. (It has happened to me before, at different companies).
I have been told that my role at IBM is ending :(
When you hear an update let us know here if you can.
happening as I type - Monday 18th May '20
I'm sure the current COVID-19 situation isn't affecting IBMs program of small, defuse, rolling redundancies in Australia. If it wasn't for some government contracts, Australian based banks and some insistent customers that still believe in and enjoy dealing with Australian sourced talent, IBM Australia could get their staff numbers under 1000 without breaking a sweat.
I can't help thinking there may be some thought of pruning out the deadwood in executive positions, especially in cloud, which seems to be a bit of a life raft for some. IBM must move from the culture of 'made men/women'. Leave that nonsense to the Mafia families
Any dtails on severance for the Australia RA?
Yes they are... they have fired many of their technical solutioners and kept their mentally challenged sales force
There are no kangaroos in Austria!
My sources tell me that two kangaroos and a wallaby got their walking papers today.
As likely as all the other false layoff rumors spread around here.
Which BUs? Very sorry to hear this.
unfortunately yes...
