There is no doubt the retail stores will slowly reopen but how much longer will Verizon pay us? Will they lay-off a certain percentage of employees? Offer voluntary severance packages? It doesn’t make sense to me that full staffing will be needed even for the next 6 months. Will some retail jobs be converted to customer service jobs from home? Will this accelerate a revamped commission structure ? Will Verizon force us to take vacation time to extend time off while stores are closed in order to maintain a paycheck? In my opinion I only see about 50% of retail stores becoming fully functional after May 1st. Something has go to give in regards to our jobs and pay.

Get ready to find a new job. Maybe a truck driver. VZ will see that direct retail stores are not the future.

Expect quota to be ridiculously high when we return too. Keep in mind they're paying everyone 100% to quota but more than 50% of ppl dont even hit quota so the company is paying us more than they usually do right now.
It will be BAU once this blows over. At least for awhile. But retail will be permentaly hurt from this because during the pandemic people will learn to get what they want through other means. Namely, online. So when BAU returns, I would expect less traffic and fewer door swings. So theres that.
Remember Verizon retail is considered an essential business and they can open stores any given week. The stores that remain open have very strict guidelines and are few and far between with management staffing. I imagine that employees will go back like we left...working 2-3 days a week for about a month before things become somewhat normal. Best guess is this will start middle of April and regular schedules return mid May. Best case scenario would be guaranteed 40 hours a week through all of this and minimum commission payout for April and May. Worst case is layoffs are coming very soon. BTW when and if we go back into the retail stores there should be a rule where the same employees work together same shifts or days. This would minimize having to quarantine and shut down stores if someone was to get sick. They could just quarantine the group that worked together.
The President just extended the social distancing order until April 30th. And I know In San Diego county the local health order was just extended until a date TBD. So I wonder how they plan on opening the stores back up when the peak of the virus hasn’t even hit yet.
They have already started on their redeployment efforts. I’d be shocked if there is any store still closed by start of may. Krista Bourne has stated they herself in those daily podcasts.
The ONLY places I see maybe staying closed are places in NY or other hotspots. But for the majority of us were not nearly impacted enough to justify staying closed through may.
The most compassionate thing I've seen the company do is offer voluntary separation allowing employees that want to leave to go while the ones that want to work, remain. Three weeks per year was very generous. If downsizing must happen, then this would go a long way to building trust and morale.
Bad press wont be the concern so many companies are laying off or concerned about going under. I think some stores that were already on the books for closing this year might close sooner rather than later but not some mass exodus however you never know.
I really don’t think they’re going to start layoffs or cut pay in a pandemic. The bad press from it would be horrendous by itself. Even if they do they’ll offer severances and a chance to move to a different job. I wouldn’t get yourself too worked up from it
