Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle layoffs scheduled for mid April.

This site is a great place to triangulate rumors. You can tell which ones are correct in retrospect because some of the events are confirmed in that rumor. Another way to tell is that the rumor comes from multiple sources. A third factor is some Oracle financial information that tends to support the rumors.

We have all 3 on this site predicting a Mid April / Easter layoff. Take it for what its worth... I too have heard the rumors, and not just on this site. Form what I gather this one is a purging of acquired products, coupled with a dumping of failed experiments. Things that cost money, but don't generate enough revenue to cover the costs.

As Oracle keeps layoffs secretive... often the only warning you get will be from this site.

Financial information indicating a layoff is coming.

Correct past predictions, with announcement of massive layoff planned Easter / Mid April

I would like to call attention to a post on this site made about a month ago. It contained several rumors two of which have recently been confirmed. It lends credibility to potential reorgs coming in September and another around Easter. Just want to bring this up for possible confirmation on the other things listed in this post.

Even if everything is good a major shift is planned for the on premise products and work force next spring around Easter.

When I was laid off from Oracle years ago, I asked to be laid off in my performance plan. Seriously, if you want to get furloughed, let your director know. My director got laid off too, so it's a good to put in your plan so the deciders in California also know.

Regarding Support, and any org really, Oracle’s last go-to, if they feel it “necessary”, is to sc-ap US workers and shift all the work to India and Romania who make about one-third as much as US workers.

Support OT cancelled? Not as far as I've been told. My people work plenty of OT - we need to just to keep up. Very busy which means that, as much as you haters like to whine about it, Oracle Cloud is being used and yes, we have some happy customers too.

Support OT cancelled where? OCI SEA or Redwood? Anyone have any word on what orgs are impacted?

All OT has been canceled in support. All project work not directly related to reducing backlog is suspended, including training on critical product areas where we are shorthanded. It does indeed feel as though something is in the wind. However, keep in mind that during the 2008 crisis, Oracle did not follow the pattern of most tech companies and did not engage in large layoffs.

What organizations? Or is this across the board

Seems likely, they have to do something. Looking at the possibility of 30% unemployment in the near future. While that may not affect tech companies at first, Oracle was already in the toilet and set to layoff people. As other people in the economy are forced out of jobs, it will trickle back to the tech companies.

Some people are trying to strike, I think they will find themselves out of a job, as there are people who will work, rather than starve. Striking is not going to work in a bad economy.

Yes. This is correct. Significant layoffs are coming in April 2020. People should be aware of this forthcoming reorg.
