So no more teachers on campus, everything transitioning online to Miami with 10 days notice. Can we at least get unemployment?.

Thanks for the information about the furlough. I'm lucky enough to have a regular full-time job and just taught Communication because I enjoyed interacting with the students and teaching some useful skills and perspective.
After all the corporate machinations of the last five years, did anyone truly expect AI to survive on ground when major well run and funded universities are scrambling to adapt to the new normal? Any employee from faculty to cleaning crew who wasn’t prepared for the end by this time is a poster child for the “frog in the boiling pot” parable..
Bye bye.... no more soup for you!
It happens whenever you are not on the schedule as an adjunct. Your sign ins and email get locked out. You get hours next schedule it will release your sign ins. I think you can go to your department head and ask for access to finish any business. It also k–ls access to software and library you may need to prep for the next classes. Just ask. Worked for me.
Hey @cnoq - same here. I wasn't given classes for next quarter and now my log-ins don't work either. Several friends have also been locked out. I know of only one adjunct who has been given three severely overloaded online classes.
These are the last days and I have to say, I was expecting a little more drama. Instead, the place is quietly evaporating.
Bout time ya leeches!
No contact from anyone since being told I wasn't going to be able to teach this quarter, and now my logins to my email and Brightspace don't work. Great stuff!
Virginia Beach won't make it to June. The man run down this place. So sad for the students.
ALL adjuncts with canceled classes this quarter, please make sure you pick up all of your personal belongings from your campus. Many campuses will be closing this quarter, and AI will be moving to an entire "on-line" school. This information comes from a very reliable source.
Im surprised the campuses are even opening for an online schedule. That is a tough transition and with such a limited staff pretty brave to make this happen. Most universities and public schools in my neck of the woods have shuttered for the rest of school year. No graduations, no finals, just closed. Hope professors can translate AI art classes to online instruction easily and with some value for the students. What if this crisis lasts 6 months. Everybody in same situation, people should stop complaining. Or better yet look for another job outside AI, if you can find it.
A lot of admin staff were laid off too. Basically, the staff that is left is institutional. Yes, enrollment is down but how will it be possible to retain it if there's no staff to support the students? Oh wait, maybe it's because the big wigs who don't show their faces or don't communicate are already planning a shift for Ai into something much smaller and/or to just online. Their just using this crisis as an excuse for something they already had brewing. How many more people do they need to let go of to "save money"? What have they even tried (previously) to raise money? Fundraisers? Its a joke. They don't give a c-ap about their employees and they definitely don't care about their students. Ai higher-ups just want new student money. I bet their salaries and positions haven't been affected. Ai just keeps getting worse and worse. Its such a shame because they're spitting on these students' dreams, their futures, their money.
From Houston - I've yet to hear anything from anyone. Several other instructors I know had some of their classes pulled out from under them. Another outstanding effort by the administration to keep us all uninformed. If your fellow teachers are suddenly being replaced by other more "important" teachers who get to keep their jobs while many of us are losing ours - you'd think it'd at least warrant a single email from one of the cowards upstairs. But then again - they wiped out all of the leadership rolls before last quarter and gave us zero heads up, so no real surprise from this sinking ship.
Yes, classes cannot meet due to CDC Covid19 restrictions for social distancing. Florida unemployment is $275 week. Apply it takes a while to get through with so many people on the website. Feds also adding up to another $600 week.
