Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Not paying Severances on time!! Leaving people stranded!

Now is the time that reflects leadership and for people that were both lucky enough to have severances, they are now stating it could be 4-6 weeks before they pay them. We counted on this money and this leaves us stranded with no pay!

I'm so ashamed as I look at all the media posts about how other competitors are leveraging their vendors to create PPE and help the community, protect their employees and stand up in our nation's time of need. Where is Macy's? Furloughing majority of company, delaying severance payouts, not paying out annual bonus's that people worked hard for, not paying 401k contributions, stopping charity contributions and NOWHERE in our communities to show values.

There are amazing front line leaders out there, but C-level and board are silent millionaires that are letting their action speak for what they stand for. This is 'my Macy's'

No words can make up for the action being demonstrated during this lifetime event.
When we recover from this, and we will, I hope the masses remember who was there and who curled up to protect what's left of their companies at the expense of their colleagues.

Ashamed I ever had a relationship with you!

Nobody is indespensible – Macy's included. Society will be massively reconfigured by spring 2021 and permanently changed by spring 2022. Do not count on old ways of living ...

Be grateful that you are getting any severance !!
Think about all those that were furloughed on Monday and given nothing but a month of medical benefits and a hope of a job to go back to .

And read the original paperwork- it states you will receive your package 45 days after you sign . 4-6 weeks = 45 days .

Hate them all you want - but retail and the industry needs Macy’s to survive this !

The best resolution is Private Equity takeover of Macy's so that fat pig executives can be fired too!!

You may want to read the book

You obviously have your head. The entire industry is in survival mode...what do you want the company to do? Bleed whatever liquidity is left over the next few weeks to give everyone a paycheck? Then we’re in the same boat but with no liquidity to restart.

I’m not a huge fan of the course the company was on pre-Covid, however how can you fault them for this or their handling? They are still paying health insurance thru May...they don’t have to do that and that costs a pretty penny. It would be mo–nic to continue to pay everyone when you have no revenue and the government is basically saying we’ll do it (with the added fed benefit). In fact most people will make MORE money this way over the next 1-2 months.

I second that. My entire team was laid off last year. All Of Field Services. We were fortunate enough to collect our severance checks and move on. I feel for those of you left in the circumstance of the post below. Because your termination with the company is not Corona Virus related the Government will not offer the same terms on unemployment. You will get your severance, if the company remains in business. Hard to say now. What Bank is going to lend them money?? Maybe a wealthy private investor. Praying that you all get paid what is rightfully yours. P.S. wonder if there will be a fireworks show this year???

It's hard to pay when you're afraid the checks will bounce. Macy's is close to being insolvent. While I understand your outrage, you cannot get blood from a stone.

I'm happy I left when I did. If I'd have stayed, I'd be so screwed it's not even funny. Instead, I work for good people who are taking care of their employees. We would therefore run through brick walls for our bosses.

Not like Macy's. They promote mediocrity and malaise. And they show it when the chips are down.

Bye, Felicia!

Macy’s will rapidly go out of business. As other big box stores will follow.
