Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Broken Promises and Broken Company

I have read many comments on here and I wanted to take the time to write about this company because I used to work for them. Beware of this company if you ever want to advance or move up at all any time in the near future. I’m glad I moved on when I did. I started while I was still in college and my DM told me that I was on the “fast track” to moving up and for me to just hang in there for 6 months or so until after I graduated college. I had another job at the time and I’m glad I stuck with my other job that turned into a great career for me now because this dude that was a so called DM was nothing more than flat out liar and total id–t. He made promises such as having a position opened up when I graduated; never happened. Just work 6 months and we will have the “Budget and the Resources available then”; never happened. I worked for Mondelez for over 2 years and I only worked there for that length of time to make extra money while I focused on my other career opportunity. The Sales Rep. I worked with always worked stores off the clock and expected everyone else to do the same or got upset because he was having to take the blame and lecture from the DM about hitting his monthly and quarterly sales targets. Just because he didn’t have a life or was too worried about losing his job isn’t a reason for me to work 24/7 too lol. I know you are probably reading this and thinking this sounds like something in my territory or my district as well, but I have read so many of y’all’s posts on here that the problems this company has is so far and wide that it wouldn’t surprise me if this business did go warehouse. I’ll break down my until District for you: DM- Incompetent, gets “confused” or has a hard time “understanding” when you ask him simple questions such as Do you have any information on the position that you promised me or Why have positions been opened up and then filled with people that haven’t even worked for the company at all previously? RMS- A robot; has to have the DM’s input to make even the most basic decisions (My boss, only saw him once over 2 years) Sales Rep.- Off the clock workaholic that talked you up and made sure you were golden when you worked with them, but trashed you to the DM, store employees, etc. just to save their own skin and their precious job. FTSSR- A baby; literally a baby. They had to have their hand held everyday. I worked with many different people during my time with this company and some people were truly hard workers and good people, but mostly they had been just run down from all of the drama and the personal grudges they had for each other. Who knows, you might read this and think your team is nothing like this and I hope you do have a positive experience because that is how a company should run. I just feel after all of these posts and hearing what everyone else says and feels I just wanted to share what I experienced during my time with Mondelez. I just don’t want any person that is looking to advance their career and move up in an organization to pick this one because 9/10 you will run into a brick wall of empty promises. Don’t let some clown control your future, you deserve more. Take care and thank you for taking the time to read my experiences.

The way to advance at this company is kiss a–, relocate 5x in 10 years and take a new job every time. If you want proof, go to Hanover, New Jersey where it’s all 32 year old kids who are overpaid!

Your DM said " you should be committed" not we are. There's a difference.

Everything is fine! We're committed to dsd! My DM said that dsd is a powerful advantage! We're in a pandemic and we're still here! Also we're hiring

I’m the OP, and I appreciate all of the feedback that most of you shared about your time with Mondelez. For all of the people that ridicule me and the others that are just trying to express how this company treats their employees poorly is really sad. Do you really think just by having a new car, new phone or having spent your entire life at this place saves your job some how? A SR in my District that had been with this company for over 25 years was taken down by the Senior SSR (Vacation Rep), another SR, and the DM just to clear out an opening for one of their SR buddies. He wasn’t part of the country club and just because you have been here forever doesn’t mean you are part of their big club. Thank you for those that actually realize how this business operates and for your own sake don’t believe everything your DM or manager tells you. I made the mistake of believing the lies and spent over 2 years of my life putting up with micromanagement, the “I’m better than you” attitude, and especially the notion that since I was part time or I was the new guy then I was to be the scapegoat for others. I’m glad I have moved on from this company and if I can do any part in helping others that feel the same way as me, I want to. YOU are important and valuable to a company, sadly this is not the one that shares those ideal values.

DSD is stronger than ever!! We're still going strong even through a pandemic crisis! No signs of a DSD exit anytime soon. I'm enjoying my new Malibu!! New car, tablet and phone!! Don't look like a broken company or broken promises to me! Get your facts straight

I know your type. Your probably a 10 year plus merchandiser. Piss and moan. It's all someone else's fault. I'm offended by everything. It's never my fault.

You are full of unfulfilled ambitions! You wax and wane; you love to complain! You love to hear yourself talk, but hate to explain! You love being another man's judge and jury! You procrastinate until it's time to worry! You love to be late, and hate to hurry!

Those that sit back and say “all co o she’s are like that” are part of the problem! Be a part of the solution! Not a person that likes to “complain for the sake of complaining”, instead prefers to take responsibility for my life! I don’t let anyone treat me with disrespect, nor would I ever treat others with disrespect! Complaining? Call it what you will! I’m happy, you? Had to make some uncomfortable choices but me and my family have benefitted!

“Take your limps young person” poster.....you clearly have a terribly pathetic and sad view of life! I worked at Mondelez for 15 plus years, and no, intent to lie or make other’s miserable is not an ordinary component of work. Of you think “work” and “employer abuse” are synonymous, as your post suggests, I’d suggest some counseling or medical intervention! Of you look at what you do everyday as simply “work”, I think you should re-evaluate your life!! I love what I do everyday, and used to love working at Nabisco, but unfortunately this company has allowed management to run moral i to the ground!

All of what you've said is spot on!!! This company takes over their employees lives, and tries to take their souls too! There is no end to their greed, and nothing is ever enough for this group. No, I do not believe all companies are this way. Even Nabisco did not use to be this way. It has morphed into an unfavorable place to work, with a terrible culture, and low employee morale. It used to be a great place to work. These positions were coveted, hard to get, and people stayed for a long time. Now, no one wants to work here, and the employees are treated like dirt, and disposable. Very sad to see a company go down hill like this. Don't blame the employees for voicing their reality of what it's like to work here, blame the leaders of this company for the abuses of their employees. Trying to silence people speaking out about what it's like to work here won't work, changing the treatment of the employees will. It actually doesn't have to be this way, they clearly want it this way. Very, very sad...

Take your lumps young person
This is life and it aint fair.
During your career and until your retirement you will gain knowledge and wisdom that a college education cant necessarily buy.
Working for any employer will be good and sometimes bad.
After all that is why it is called work.
Learn from the school of hard knocks.
Learn how to treat others and how you would like to be treated.
To achieve wisdom takes time.As you age you shall gain maturity in areas that are unknown to you currently.
No one is able to be successful if everything is always perfect.

Actually, no they don’t! Sounds like you’ve been at Mondelez too long! That’s a shame! There is a toxic atmosphere at Mondelez that’s not existent where I am!
You need go back and bend over for your boss, for the rest of the people I’m on here to offer hope and encouragement that it doesn’t have to be that way! Plenty of wonderful places to work where that doesn’t exist! If you want to be miserable, go for it! Personally, I don’t! I can only imagine what your life outside work must look like.....I pity your family if you have any!

Your experience sounds exactly like what happens in our region! GS makes false promises and is a total liar! Your story sounds so familiar, I know quite a few people that feel into that exact same trap! The good news is you are young and recognized the disgusting nature of things and had the where with all to move on!
I feel badly for those that don’t have that ability, or at least don’t think they do! I too was fortunate enough to move on as well! I stay in touch with my merchandisers and things have not improved one bit! Maybe gotten even worse!
Cleaning house will be the only way to correct this ship! Until that happens I would suggest anyone thinking about working at Mondelez take a really hard second look! Mondelez is a toxic work environment that will lead to a dead end!
