Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

All Leadership should all be laid off!

I was told by my Supervisor In Manta I can’t wear a mask at work and if I had too, I had to go to HR and prove why I had to from a doctor. I went to my area manager and he told me the same thing. Doctors are now telling people masks or any piece of cloth can help prevent the spread. SeaWorld leadership is at fault for the spread of the virus in the parks. My manager laughed at me and did not take my concerns seriously when I said I told them I was worried about spreading the virus to my children. They should all be FIRED. Who has a screen shot of the Seaport page telling us masks are not effective? It shocks me to hear my manager gets paid six digits while we are dying literally from there stupidity.

The CDC just recently changed their mind about the masks. Previously they said they were only effective if an infected person was wearing the mask. Obviously that’s different now.

I don’t blame the supervisor for telling you to go to HR. Most places prior to the time the furlough started were “following CDC guidelines” which means they wouldn’t have recommended you wear the mask at that time.

Did you go to HR like your manager said or not? What did they say?

This is by far the most ridiculous post response I have seen thus far. If you go to retail locations throughout the area employees are wearing gloves or masks or both. There has also been a tremendous amount of backpedaling on the wear a mask don’t wear a mask directive. If someone feels more comfortable with a mask then they should be allowed to wear one at work. There are fewer employees working but there is still the risk of people who are asymptomatic being present. Perfect response from someone in ‘leadership’ from a company that just furloughed 90% of their employees leaving them uninsured during a PANDEMIC, guess it wasn’t a convenient time to follow Disney’s approach. God save the Queen!

  • 2) If they make an accommodation for health, then they would have to make the same accommodation for everybody. Your leadership did the correct thing by funneling it to HR.

Ummmm... you do realize that there is a pandemic going on right? This comment is totally laughable and shows how out of touch you are with front line employees, especially since your next comment is indicating you are a "leader".

You and the leadership team should be doing whatever is needed to help those who still are working to maintain the parks while they are closed. These are the people that you and the board need to make sure things keep going so if/when we reopen the park is in any kind of shape to receive guests. But by all means, alienate your staff. Thats a great way to ensure that those of us that have not yet found new jobs will find them and move on as soon as we can. Then you might have to get off your rear end and do something yourself.

1) So the government, including the Surgeon General was telling people that masks were not effective, and you expect your supervisors at a theme park to know more than what a medical expert is telling them.
2) If they make an accommodation for health, then they would have to make the same accommodation for everybody. Your leadership did the correct thing by funneling it to HR.
3) Your leadership doesn't make six figures. I wish I was making six figures as a salaried leader, but far from that.
4) Basically everybody but VP's are on furlough.
5) Instead of calling for everybody else to be fired, why don't you just be an adult and go get another job when this is all over. This sounds like either this was your first job, or you've been a malcontent every place you've been.
