I don't work for American Eagle anymore, but I was checking online to see how it's doing right now, considering the situation, and I couldn't believe when I read this:
American Eagle is among a growing number of retailers closing its stores through late March. The company has pledged to pay employees for the hours they are scheduled in coming weeks. But an employee in a New York store said managers recently sc-apped the original schedule and created a new one that only includes managers, which means she — and the majority of her co-workers — will not be paid.
“I’ve worked up to 40 hours a week for more than three years,” said the employee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because she feared retribution at work. “I’ve never received zero hours. I don’t know what to do.”
Have they really stooped so low to do something that despicable? Try to get the credit for being among the good guys while simultaneously screwing over most of the employees?
If this is true, my heart goes out to my former coworkers. This is as low as it gets, in my opinion.
