So I got my letter about reduction in pay, r.m. already alerted us a couple weeks ago. I am miffed that it says some employees and not all. My r.m. said it was across the board. I am still working, I am risking my health by not being in quarantine like we are told we need to do, I am making less than my staff on unemployment and not eligible for hazard pay, unemployment for lost wages, and paying my own benefits (company is paying cobra for our unemployed folks).
Let's treat the most dedicated the worst. My kids are out of school like everyone else's, home alone while I continue to do all the task at the store. No problem, I can home school at night. Thanks once again for really treating each and every associate with those super values you pride yourself on.

Bull. We will never see that 10% back. They just told us 90 days verbally so we would go to work thinking it’s only temporary. It does not say 90 days anywhere on those papers. The RM GVP and other higher ups are being paid to stay home and not risk their life or their families lives. They should have been the only ones cut. And now a letter saying we are possibly not getting bonuses. We were grandfathered in. What the hell does that mean. I have been working for this company for over 25 years I couldn’t have been grandfathered into anything ??!
Companies that are working are NOT cutting pay to those that are putting their health in jeopardy. They are supplying masks, gloves and financial incentive to those employees.
The Follett Family's greed runs a world in need.
Call in sick. You know what value they put in you.
We thought Baker and Taylor was a lousy company....little did we know!
I have a great relationship with my contact and I've informed them of the reduction of pay, yes. I did not want said contact to be shocked if I had to leave the campus due to insufficient pay, because again..We've got a great working relationship and have been working on many projects together. Some of those projects have target deadlines of Fall 2020. Pickings are slim right now, but I am job hunting every day.
This bed has been made. Your choice may be to sleep in it or lose a job. What happens when this we're working our way out of this. Are you staying with follett? This is a terrible company who is now demanding you endanger your kids, your spouse, your roommates, your parents. They appreciate it so much they're cutting your pay. This is the definition of a toxic, abusive relationship.
When I leave I will make sure my campus, everyone from faculty to president to Admins will know it is because of the way Follett treats their employees.
Bad enough I haven't had a raise in many many years (2% is not a raise), changed the bonus plan so drastically that it isnt even worth trying to reach for, but then again they set your budget with such expectations it is impossible to reach the goal. Who has the same job for over 10 years and their w2 is lower than then year you started!
If the company said lower pay and lower hours you could apply for unemployment and receive the 600. Extra a week that all played off are getting.
My full time staff are making considerably more not working, ad on top of that their benefits are being paid.
My CM manager is taking home 450 more plus benefits paid. I have already been told he isnt coming back until the state lifts the order in place, and I dont blame him. If I were him I wouldn't come back either!
You're a fool if you keep working at a reduced rate. Just call in sick. Say you think you may have the COVID 19 and you are going to self quarantine for 2 weeks.
You should be being paid a bonus for working in these challenging times, no less.
If you wonder what the family thinks of you, think no more.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
There are some employees already at minimum and they they cannot legally be reduced further...
Has anyone who is still working at an open store told their campus contact about the reduction?
Send a message to the editor an insidehigered.com and let them know what's happening. Maybe they will publish an article.
Lowest paid get the reduction, disgusting.
I am a long term employee, manager, and qualify for low income benefits in my state. I hate this company. It is a shame I like my job, my campus, my co workers.
reduction in pay = rip = rest in peace
I just love going to work knowing that if I get COVID due to being open to the public and it is serious enough that I am hospitalized...? The medical bills will definitely outweigh anything I make. Even with insurance.
The pay cut only intensifies this feeling.
Yes. Agreed. The letter says they "temporarily reduced salaries for a portion of our salaried exempt workforce."
Also no mention of the 90 days, just that they will "reevaluate this decision from time to time."
