There may be no more chance to EOI voluntarily in the Fall, but if you are left standing and laid off for lack of work, you will most definitely be eligible for the usual severance package. I know this for a fact. It happened in 2015/2016.

@1fva+14wZAmnz, people will take the EOI if they are ready to go or those that don't want to gamble in the fall selection event. If you choose to play the hunger games in the fall and are left standing, there is no more EOI/severance. You will be shown the door.

This sounds like fake news. They may be accepting EOI from mid to senior managers who are not fitting into the new org chart, but they have not gotten to the reorg at the worker bee level so I doubt they are entertaining EOI from the whole workforce yet
Why would some take it now? Because they are ready to go now.
If there is another selection later in the year why on earth would anyone be stupid enough to take the EOI now?
What is redeployment? they pay you during that period while you are transitioning to retirement or another job
