I actually liked my job with the company but can honestly still say Hertz is by far one of the worst companies to work for. I just got complacent and didn't move on when I should have.
At least now I can look for a company that isn't rated as one of the worst companies to work for!
I'm guessing the company was mainly just paying for health insurance for those that were furloughed.
The company would rather lose talented individuals than pay for health insurance during a global pandemic? Wow! Good thing cobra is only $600+/month.
The company laid off people within a month of the pandemic really starting in the US. This should show you how underpaid you really were.
The company would boast about how they were trying to take care of their employees. The fact that you have to mention you're taking care of your employees instead of just doing it should show this is a bad company to work for.
One of the ways they were trying to "take care of their employees" is by giving branch managers a yearly merit raise. If you talked to a newer manager they were actually getting paid $2000-$3000 less than what the position was paying before. But hey, good thing you now qualify for a yearly raise!
The fact they called it a yearly MERIT raise blows my mind. Over 90% of the company receives the same score resulting in about a 2.5% yearly raise. How could this be merit based if people were getting shot down for higher scores just because the company didn't want to pay you more?
Most companies pay an average of 3% yearly increase anyways.
At the end of the day - use this time to work for a company doing something that you like and one that will actually take care of you. They exist. Just look at glass door and the news.
Don't become complacent like I did. Actually be proud for the company that you work for and don't force yourself to take pride just because you're with the company.
Good luck everyone.
