To Post ID: @nlgv+153N9wKC . Totally agree. There are so many people that would volunteer to go or that are just waiting. I believe this would help with morale. But they RIF instead and in a way that just ruins morale.

This is insane. Lot of companies are announcing voluntary redundacy schemes now to reduce the employee count. AIG should have announced Voluntary Redundancy Scheme first to see the response and then they should have started these mass RIFs. Passionate Employees who wanted to stay were asked to leave and the employees who wanted to leave are still around.

I got riffed with the 6/8 group of people; I confirmed that AIG is using the AIG 200 excuse to let people go. In some states in America, there is no requirement to give the employee a reason for the laid-off. So AIG is, for sure, contributing to the unemployment statistics during these difficult times. We can only hope and pray that the excellent economy that we had before Covid19 comes back soon. Looking at different job search engines, I see several new job postings, so there is hope. Stay safe, positive, and friendly.

I heard there will be more RIF's after this week again in June and they will continue. I'm not sure if that meant there will be a break until Sept., but there will be ongoing RIF's. So sad but many of us see it coming we just don't know when.

The dates make sense as they are at the end of a financial QTR in the US....whether Covid happened or not, they were going to do this. Now they can hide behind Covid as a “factor”.

The company has soo many consultants in to make the RIF recommendations that Sr Mgmt doesn’t have the guts to do. Why else bring in management consultants other than to fire people, off-shore/BPO or have them come up with a nice presentation to the Board on why Executive Mgmt is “supposedly underpaid”.....

To Post ID: @7qei+153N9wKC what Line of Business or Departments are going to get hit? From what I have read on this site, it appears IT may get hit. But that may only be a rumor. I can't believe they wouldn't let more settle down because of Covid before they do large RIF's. Wow BD and PZ are very self serving and they really lack compassion

Didn't you watch the bd video? There will be no pay cuts during the virus. Well of course not because that would mean execs would have to take a hit too.

Also, there will be no rifs during the corona virus (however, this included a side comment that we are always evaluating the situation. it was an under the breath disclaimer that no we will not rif for the virus, but that doesn't mean rifs aren't coming.

Like everything else at aig, there is very little transparency and a great deal of double speak from the execs. in the end the lower levels employees will get the shaft. you can bank on that.

Any truth that countries are being targeted also? Ie close lines of business and close some offices?

I'm hoping I land this job I've been interviewing for and finally get out of this "thing" some people call an organization.

I haven't learned a thing since I've started here besides where to click on a screen.

Hahaha like the company cares about if you find work once they kick you out. They don't care about you when you're there. they laid off an Targeted people above 60 who really can't find a job somewhere else you have to be kidding if you think the company would wait til things open up because they care about you.

I think this is true and the RIF's will be presented as part of the AIG 200, and not part of Covid 19. At least that is what we will be told. I have heard this from a few people through out AIG and not all in same location. I wonder what areas are going to be hit. I also heard there will be another RIF in early fall. You would think they would wait until offices and businesses open so that employees can find work.

you all will be happy to get out of that place. If you are young, you will find another job. If old just retire

To answer the question about volunteering. You can’t formally volunteer but your can talk with your manager and let them know you would be okay being the person if there was a RIF on your team. It’s a lot easier on managers when they have to RIF someone that wants to go.

Does anyone know how AIG responds to someone volunteering to be on the RIF list?

Anyone with 15+ years should be ready.

Not driven by covid or aig 200 just the normal layoffs.

No tin foil hat - continual layoffs are AIG SOP.

Post ID: @trq+153N9wKC

Stating that layoffs are not related to something specific just leaves the door open for layoffs related to something else....which can be anything......we shall see....
Tin-foil hat back on

Imagine getting paid 20 M to read off a script

Post ID: @zvx+153N9wKC

Yes. So ignore recent video from BD saying there won't be layoffs. He stated "none related to covid", not none related to 200. He was reading off a script and didn't look well. So take those responses with a grain of salt.
