As usual all the precautions ie news and boy scouts up and down the hierarchy sounds so obviously reasonable and well lets admit it , pure propaganda meant to sooth the workforce into “we have it under control” it so amusing watching this play out like a mother hen reassuring her children not to worry. You are all being programmed and don't even realize it. The even funnier part is you may be buying into it as well and perpetuating it too lol. But hey take the blue pill thats the way Its been since forever.
Here is the issue, for me - age 60 plus with family member with asthma, wait for layoffs get called back to office catch the flu and get serious complication die or get organs severely compromised like lungs, liver kidneys and heart , vs retire as soon as call to return issued and retire then and never go back risking going back just to get severance package is not worth the risk imho. After tax approx 50k difference not worth the risk
@1weu, I do think you should be concerned, but not for Chevron laying you off, but why you are still working and not retired already. Life is more than just a job. You’ve had a long career with a good paying company. Take the EOI or the opportunity of right sizing of the company to reward yourself, retire and enjoy life while you have your health and strength to get around.
Should I be concerned? I am a white male with 40 years with the company and in the 62+ age range.
Except "retirement" will come real soon for some . . . .
