Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Furloughed on Monday

Northern Virginia service tech, furloughed on Monday. Told they were only retaining 3 techs but come to find out it was only 3 techs, for now, furloughed. Either another outright lie or another half-truth, which has been the norm since we merged. If it's about surviving, then why let 3 techs go but retain all 3 warehouse employees? I don't want to see anyone lose their job (temporarily or permanently) but if they're concerned about their customers why let 3 people go that work directly with your customers and keep 3 warehouse employees that spend the vast majority of their day surfing the web and just sitting around shooting the breeze? Haven't been happy since the merger was announced and it's gone downhill since then. Not happy I was told I was no longer an asset, but I'll be happy to collect more to sit at home and look for a new job. In the end, thanks for nothing, but headaches.
At least, since I just passed a milestone anniversary, it'll look better on my resume. Time to find a company that appreciates it's employees.
To those techs still around, enjoy those 5 hour drive times to cover for your discarded comrades. The writing is on the wall, get out while you can.

I don't believe Xerox is bringing back all furloughed employees. If you are furloughed don't wait for them to call you back, stick it to them and find something better. Best of luck to you.

On the point the poster below raised. As of end of last quarter Xerox liabilities is $9.17b. A portion of the liquidity you mentioned has to be used to furnish these liabilities due on the coming quarter?

@iwm+1553u7pA - Shared this on another post. this is an ignorant rumor. At the end of March Xerox had over $1.2 Billion in cash and $2.8 Billion in cash equivalents. Even if Xerox didn't bring in a single $0.01 since the beginning of Covid, it would take over 6 months to burn through that cash. Xerox isn't in jeopardy of making payroll.

Nobody is paying their invoices, money going out and no money coming in makes poor Johnny an unhappy boy!!!
HCL has deal with Xerox to automate or should I say autobot as many processes as possible, of course they say it is to eliminate error, um, it is to eliminate jobs, customer care call center is top of the list!!

Not saying that you there was an issue making payroll or not but, payroll is a cash expense. Billing, collections, etc have been “right-shored”. The Xerox people who fixed the errors & kept things moving have been let go in many cases. Those still left are wearing so many hats that they don’t have the time to stay on top of everything. If you can’t bill correctly& you can’t collect what’s owed that’s got to impact cash. Just sayin’

Heard the rumor today from a non-furloughed employee. Xerox want going to be able to make payroll, so they had the big furlough. Not sure how true it is yet, but the truth will come out.
