I know there's an expectation of massive layoffs this week. But would Macy's really lay off tens of thousands of employees, then immediately fire off a bunch of fireworks in celebration? I know the 'celebration' would be for July 4th, not the layoffs, but what a visual that would be nevertheless.

Honestly I believe anything outside of getting stores back up, trying to get employees back to work,helping laid off employees should be the first order for any business. How will a firework show be without people to watch because they are scared to be outside?

Macy’s is a great company but adjusting to the online sales world doesn’t happen over night. From what I’ve seen they are heading into the right direction with the latest 4.5 bln financing. The fireworks show was paid for and organized well before covid. It's not like they can get a refund, so what is the company gonna do with a team they hired & paid to put on a show already?
