Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

What about if we denied first round

I’m a counter manager and I denied first round coming back because I have someone in my home who is high risk. I made sure to ask if this was optional. I was told my job is secure, you just have to come back after the second round is called. Does this mean if I didn’t go back, I’m going to be cut? They made it optional and tons of people declined too.

They freaking lied to you. You could have refused the first one. They cannot make you resign for the first call. I hate store managers and their scripts, all they do is lie lie lie and it doesn't even seem to bother them, they lie so much it's second nature. I'm so mad for you 😡😡😡

I declined on the first call to come back. Was told to voluntarily resign. Asked “don’t I have to sign something or fill something out for that to happen?” They said no. Was not given a second call option.

" I wasn’t given the option of a second call. I was voluntarily resigned."

You aren't making sense. How were you "voluntarily resigned" after the first call back you declined? I know of no one that this happened to. Only to the ones who declined the second call back.

Even people who came back with first round can be cut. It's about whether your position has been eliminated and where you rank in the store. Layoffs will have nothing to do with who accepted first round.

Their question is simple - if you denied the first callback, are you getting the chop when the big announcements are made later this week?

Seems to me no one is reading the OP's post and are jumping in with unhelpful comments.

If they have a position to offer second round then it should be fine. But if the company has eliminated a position, that’s not against you, it’s a eliminated position. So hopefully your position was not eliminated. If it was, hopefully there is another FT position they can offer you. If you don’t except, then that’s your decision.

Yep, if you declined on the first round of calls AND declined your second call back, you are now officially unemployed. That's the MAGIC of Macy's.

I said first round NOT second round. First round we were told it wasn’t being held against your job.

Yes, from what I was told, if you decline the 2nd round of call backs,( having declined on the first call) it is a sign from you that you are resigning. And your employment is terminated.
