People were remotely working long before the pandemic. Why, the company CEO would only pop in only once or twice a year. Is it any wonder he had no idea how he lost a billion here or a billion there?

HE people were already working remotely (pandemic) when the furloughs occured. There was nothing to "GTHO" of and no ask to mail the badge in.

They let you keep your badge when you were furloughed? We were told to gather our belongings from our desk and GTHO. They had someone in the hall to prevent us from going anywhere but out and that person collected our badges.

Im a HE associate on furlough: I can tell you that I have gone back twice; once to get some mail, the other a few weeks later to grab some office/desk stuff, and both times the badge scanner went 'green' and I was allowed to come and go as per normal. I did have a security guard that lingered in the vicinity of my office for awhile; as it is a TOTAL ghost town, with much of the lighting turned off (to save $$ on utilities, presumably)

Yes, you need your badge and must enter and exit from the visitor entrance at the lobby.
