Fair distribution system is when you hire Americans first who are out of job right now and don’t transfer jobs overseas destroying financial industry

I have no problems with it, but it needs to be spread out more evenly across different nations. We cannot have a situation that all of it is going to one nation (I think 85%) and that causes everyone else to be dismissive. It's not a fair disribution system. Give some slots to Europe, some to Africa, South America. There is plenty good talent around the world. Now, if you are in IT, it feels like we are being invaded by a single nation...

I worked for a variety of firms in IT that did not use H1-B workers nor outsource jobs to India. These firms all had better work environments that BNY Mellon. When one allows the invasion of a firm with partisans who have their own agendas, the work environment becomes toxic. I could write a book about the shenanigans I observed while there.

And don’t forget, the spouses of these H1-B workers are taking yet more jobs from Americans.

Could we stop with wrong narratives; L 1 visas are internal transfers and were to go high achieving folks that companies wanted to train, then during the financial crisis, it became a great way to lateral in cheaper labor and layoff Americans. If an American is sitting in the chair doing the work, NO need for the L1.
Also visas just don't displace iT folks, they take accounting, finance and clerical jobs. H1 B visas were for staff to fill open recs, not for corporations to swapout an American for someone else. Again if an American is already doing the job we don't need the Visa.If
Lastly, it is not the person taking the job, it is the tax system that allows it. Eliminate any tax benefits to a corporation for outsourcing any job to anywhere

Do the Innovation Centers even serve a purpose anymore? I believe they were used to test non-cubicle office setups a few years back, but that has now become the norm (pre-Corona). Last time I visited, the folks in the IC weren't doing anything innovative or ground-breaking.

Well H, L & J category visas are for those people with higher academic qualifications and exceptional skillset. Anyone at the innovation center, I would not consider extraordinary, they are low on anything they do. US FRESH GRADUATE do a better job than these folks who are done favour by their US-based managers for HIDING the docs from US folks to make their way to the US. Managers are responsible for all these scams at BNY.

Good! H1B was nothing but a loophole that allowed certain nefarious people into this country that should never have been allowed here. Then these folks come here on the H1B visa and they take away American jobs. We need laws like what Canada has. Canada has super tough immigration laws that protect jobs from foreigners. You can’t just come into Canada and go to work.

Does it really matter to this company or many others? We set up shop in other lands many years ago. Companies find a way to adapt.
