Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I left voluntarily a little over a year ago. I have to say while I initially rooted for them to fail because of Icahn and Visentin and all of the worst petty managers that couldn't leave making life miserable for everyone, I now really just wish they could succeed so that any good people left have a chance. I'm hoping that ship hasn't sailed. Most likely Xerox will just be left teetering on the edge and will face the inevitable 5 years from now so that Icahn (if he's not rotting in hell by then) can just blame it on whomever took over. That's what happens when we don't regulate what is terrible for society. We were great in the 70s-90s because the tide lifted all ships. There is no trickle. Not even a 1% cost of living raise.

I too feel guilty about my feelings of wanting that sh–hole to go down. I feel that even tho my old friends will be out of a job, it will either be better for them long term, or frankly they deserve it for staying at that dump. Happy I got off the titanic!

What kind of person enjoys seeing a company go down? One that's invested a good chunk of their lives, found success in the past and based on that tried repeatedly to make things work with dwindling resources, empty promises and negligent leadership. I left too and have empathy for those stuck rotting in the soul s—ing ground hog day that is xerox... with that in mind I hope this company goes down as fast as possible. Perspective is vengeful but also want people to discover the truth I've found: Everyone is better off with xerox in the review mirror!

My experience for 20 years with sales at xerox was they didn’t care about the operation of the business or any post sale customer until it was time to renew. Oblivious to everything going on around them. They hired a sales person to replace me in operations and she lasted all of 3 months. She couldn’t take it. When I was training her she couldn’t be bothered. Filing her nails in my office I kid you not. Selfish arrogant and rude. So not at all shocked by this OPs willingness and happiness to see an icon go down.

That’s just the name of the game”Sales”.

What kind of person wants to enjoy seeing a company go down? Most of us love our coworkers and have many that are close personal friends that depend on Xerox. Go ahead and wish that the senior management get the ax, but I wish my friends don't have to find a job during this economy.

So you leave and take a bunch of customers with you. A Ricoh sales rep feeling the same about Ricoh does the same and brings a bunch of customers to Xerox. This game has been played ad nauseam.

Bottom line is the total industry is shrinking. If you are good at sales, pick any industry that's growing and work there. You'll make more. Some industries you just need one customer.
