Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Handling is atrocious..

I understand the business decision. My issue is with the handling and communication from the top..Senior leadership should be ashamed of the handling and the “drip drip” nature of the communication. To leave the employees below the director level in limbo for weeks is shameful. To not let the impacted go on with their lives and try to find new employment and heath care for their families is shameful...
This was planned since last year. Directors and above have known for a significant amount of time.
The continued and unnecessary delay has caused nothing but stress to the majority of the employee base..most of who have been loyal to the company and our customers for years.
It did not need to happen this way. “Lay off”” if you feel that you must but the way that it has been handled appears to be particularly callous to hard working people who now do not know whether they will have health care for their family during a pandemic or a check coming in within 60 days.
Adding fuel to the feeling was the video call with senior executives who have had their jobs spared and appeared almost giddy at what was being done to their affected employees...shameful!!!

If they announce who’s getting layed off too soon then those employees won’t be as productive. They’re also hoping India opens up soon to absorb a lot of the work

since the layoffs have been talked about since last year, people marked the surveys positive Knowing that they can find out who Marked what and hoping they would bypass them in the layoffs. Basic human survival methods and common sense. It had nothing to do with how The company is. It was patronizing and naïve on their behalf in all honesty

The claims call where he started by talking about how great morale is based on the survey that was taken before any of this came to light was mind numbing...are they that out of touch to truly believe that you could put your employees through this type of wait...on an issue that will impact the very survival of their family and that “morale is high.”
This is leadership????????

I believe they slow walk it to manipulate laws, press coverage, and PR. They only serve the company interests, they could care less about the employees, despite their lip service.

I agree, very poor handling of this entire situation. They do not care about people, period. Not a care in the world about hard working employees being without health coverage let alone an income during a pandemic. They could wait another few months but that would be too humane. They’ve had this plan, decide to announce lay-offs and then nothing. When will the first round be? Why all the secrecy? It’s like some sort of weird social experiment, the top is watching while everyone else stresses, and morale goes to the $hitter. They are happily going about their business knowing they’ll be making more money when all is said and done. Yay! Let’s be happy for them (insert sarcasm).

If and when these lay-offs start happening I will be sure to tell every social group, school group, church, online and in person group that I belong to to boycott this awful company. Along with every family member, neighbor and friend. We could get it trending on every social media platform. Come on millennials and Gen Z’ers, let’s use our online presence. No one is loyal to insurance companies. You better believe they’re going to lose customers because of this.

Yep. Totally get the business decision. The way it has been handled is disgusting. That rah rah video call giving us no real info while smiling like id–ts was surreal.

Completely agree with you! If Allstate want's to compete, major changes need to happen. I would rather work for an innovative organization that knows how to get ahead then for a company who is "business as usual". BUT, you are right - the handling of this and communication strategy has been awful!
