Hi all – looking to talk with some people who were impacted by layoffs (or those who know more specific numbers/departments). Can reach out to me at alandis at newsy dot com or on Twitter at @_AustinLandis. Thank you!

Support at Oracle s—s. The RIF will only impact the hand off circle jerk that gets done 24/7 around the planet. EMEA can deal with solving the problems. Customers can just google solutions.
over 50 here, however to be fair, I can't remember the last time anyone was hired at sun/oracle.
so I think everyone was over 50 or at least 45
Its not just support engineers, ydays layoff includes managers, directors and even senior directors. EBS(on prem) affected the most. In fusion/cloud only few engineers got rifed who are basically not on the favorite list of their managers. Nothing based on skills/work as far as I know.
I am on my H1-B and got laid off as well!!
Sorry to everyone who was unjustly let go today. Sadly, you probably won't be the last. I was RIFed five months ago to help make one of the cretins in OCI upper management look like they were remotely competent.
If you don't feel like this RIF is a liberation, you need to remind yourselves that you worked for scum who'd bury their own mothers alive and piss on their graves if it helped them kiss their superior's @SS.
Lost my manager today. Oh well
25 years and counting
Yep Automation group got hit as well. I am interested to see how many were over 50 or had 15+ years at Sun/Oracle that were let go? I think several from my team was in that situation.
I worked in support for many years (Solaris). I left voluntarily after the big Sun RiF a few years back, by then I’d moved to engineering. Feeling sad for any old co workers hit today. You’ll find something else.
Several in the hub. I believe two managers including my own.
Haven’t heard about myself - hopefully it’s over today
Fusion Support had some, Cloud Central, HUB, manager. That's all I am aware of.
Utah was hit with about 2 rif'd from each Support Team. The HUB had quite a few (about 11 layed off). One manager that I know of.
AA’s group was impacted. 30%+ in some groups; old Sun Hardware Operations group was impacted; Santa Clara, HLS, Colorado and Seattle. Blood bath today.
Some in IT were let go. Project Managers too. The realignment in IT is happening now. Some of them were at Oracle nearly 15 years.
interesting , i was rif'd as well this morning Solaris kernel/OS and super cluster ...Burlington
Can confirm. Solaris (Kernel/NW/OS) is also getting hit. Managers also, not just TSE's.
More horror to add to the already horrific 2020...
Hearing about lots of people being let go across the Apps Unlimited support org (PeopleSoft, JDE, Siebel, etc). Seems to be pretty random with no consideration being given to how much of a clusterfk it is going to cause. Support was already shty and getting worse all the time due to boneheaded leadership driving the whole operation into the ground through no investment in actually getting their support people up to competency. Lucky for me though I somehow still get to be here to continue to pretend like I'm someone who can help the customer. So much stupidity running this Company.
+1 RIF today from Oracle Support group.
I'll provide more info once my severance is closed out and fully done with Oracle.
Any perks for H1-B visa holder? like 3 months severance or hope of reorg?
Below. Not just Colorado Springs but all US Support.
Got RIF'ed this morning in Burlington. Told 10% across the board in Deb Smith group
Yup seem like it’s happening
Can attest to that. Colorado Springs is getting hit today.
Do you know if this is PMS "property management system" support?, or is it the POS ? or Cloud?
