I was RIF'd last week. I just wanted to thank you all for the help and guidance on several topics. There has to be something better out there for us all. Happy 4th!

I was also RIF’d this week and it was a blessing. This company is totally delusional in the way they proceeded with this action. Honeywell will fall and I just want to get my 401K and shares with Honeywell transferred to other stocks before it falls too much. The stock price in this company is already struggling and probably will drop like a bomb when the market hears how they have laid off the experienced workers and can’t make deliverables on time. I know for a fact that we have major customers that are already looking to bail out of Honeywell.
After leaving Honeywell, I realized just how many companies aren’t as mature as they could be. Poor or non-existent processes, lack of execution skills, minimal financial controls...
All those things that Hon takes too far have actually trained you to be better disciplined that almost every smaller business. Make your experience in process/execution hell work to your advantage. Help some smaller company cut stupid costs, but apply the logic Hon can’t around what not to cut. Bring milestones and program phase gates, but not the 8’ x 4’ laminated Phase Gate Review checklist. Basics for us at Hon are still not universal in the business world.
There’s more opportunity outside Hon than within...
One foot in front of the other home skillets...it will be ok
To paraphrase Maximus in the movie Gladiator: "RIFs smile at us all. All a Honeywell employee can do is smile back". Zoloft helps. Until the COVID problem is solved, our aerospace customers will continue to shrink and we along with them. Be kind to others, especially former coworkers who are having their lives shaken up. Remember that there are no guarantees in life, so try to live each day to the fullest.
