if I were at Amazon position, I would choose to buy Macy’s. Reasons for this? Amazon stock price skyrocketed, not Macy’s stock prices are deep in water now, so using the appreciated money from Amazon stock to buy a famous bland with a significantly lower price, I feel ko better business than this deal.

It's reported that Amazon is making plans to tender buying Macy's at $20 per share.
Possible announcement on July 23rd when Amazon announces their earnings.
Someone with inside knowledge is saying it's more than a rumor, trimming of management is step one as in any M&A. Those positions will be handled by Amazon management .
Hell No, just foolish rumors. You can always list 'why this or that should/could happen'.
Towards the end of Lundgren's reign, there was a rumor that Amazon was buying Macy's that lasted a morning and by lunch it was out of the news and Lundgren "retired" a few weeks later. I think it could and should happen for a bunch of reasons that make economic sense but will it save us the workers or lead to better days? Doubtful.

Too bad Jeff Gennette thinks he is smarter than other people. The way he comes up with new ideas (that people tried 10 years ago) that he thinks are new and innovative is what could drive this company into the ground. If he had any brains he would be bending over backwards to get acquired just so he can retain some credibility and get a job at another company to drive into the ground. For a selfish person like that with an ego, he fails to be even good at being selfish. No clue how some of these people even get to that level.
If Bezos does buy Macys, two mouth watering words... real estate.
Macy's will ask too much for real estate and that is why AMZN would not buy M. Please note that M does not have recurrent buyer base that Whole Foods Market has ...
Who knows they would have to tear it down and build it up into maybe something worth saving.. they would do well in N.J. right now looks like the captain has jumped ship they are sinking fast you just got rid of all your good and descent workers. Let them sink you screwed us oh well yes I am still very bitter and having nightmares.. I got NOTHING because I went flex I really cared about my job and the people I worked with.
Why would Amazon want Macy's?
Because Amazon wants to rule the world and one area they haven't conquered is fashion. Macy's sells more fashion online than Amazon.
Amazon owns Macys = Amazon wins the fashion game, too.
Probably the last mile same day delivery, as the Macy's stores are strategically placed, it would save Amazon money from developing that, as well as direct competition with WalMart and Target market share of apparel, which they have struggled with. It would immediately put a dent into Target and WM.
Why would they buy it.
